Sometimes I spend hours and hours on bug reports (KSP1). That's all going to be a waste of time if someone else has already sent feedback to Intercept Games (KSP2). Please give us a bug tracker. Please?

The amount of time I spent on bug reports on KSP1 was from a few hours to a few months (for the more interesting ones).

But I knew if a bug had already been reported I would just interact with that posted bug report and not make a new one.

The feedback system on the PDLauncher and the Intercept Games discord just isn't the place for serious bug monitoring for us the public to interact with.

Not reporting bugs that have already been reported is a bad thing.  You want everyone to report all bugs so the devs understand what is happening.

However, what I'd like to see is a list of what bugs they are working on for the current release so I don't report something they are already fixing.

Lets be honest, they know the bugs they have. A bug tracker would only be negative publicity now (if you take the POV of Take Two).

@JoeSchmuckatelli

"I'd second this.  Or maybe have a dedicated 'bug' sub that does not allow whining about performance and optimization or 'my mom's 2015 Lenovo won't run KSP2'. "

Says the guy dropping threads on how hes running 4K! I'm just razzing you, Joe, I do agree with your point.  There is a huge difference between trying to solve a problem, and wanting to vent your emotions about a problem.

True bugs are things like vehicles falling through the ground, parts not working correctly or incorrect text.

Razz away!  When I earn it; feel free to take the wind out of my sails!

- I know I'm part of the PC generation: totally inured to spending ungodly sums on my chosen hobby.  (I spent $3k in 1994 dollars on a computer back in the day)  It's just that I don't blame the Dev team for the prices that AMD & NVidia are charging.  Yeah, they have a lot of water to haul in the optimization department... and yeah, after this many years we'd like to see it more complete... but I'm actually happy to have my hands on it, regardless of the state.

I'm glad you are having a good KSP2 experience hardware wise. I think we are going to have to rely on people like you with beefy systems to separate the bugs from the lack of optimization. I wish I knew who posted it, but I read in another thread someone mentioning trying to report a bug, but the game keeps crashing when they try to reproduce, or something along those lines.

Also, thanks for chiming in @PD_Dakota. I don't mean to start anything with regards to publishers in this thread.

Just to add context to the above, we've added that subforum and it's our preferred place to receive bug reports for now. You can continue to submit feedback through the launcher though.

Ok. That will do thanks. Working on my first one now.

Thanks. This is very helpful.   It is much easier to do it on the forum, especially since you don't have to exit the game.  This also means I can look and see if the bug has already been reported.

It's a good idea to report threads that refer to the same bug to the mods so they can merge them.

No need to report a bug if someone else has already done so. But if I have more information I will add to theirs

Unless their title description is too vague maybe.

A lot of people posted the same bug in different threads. IMO these could be merged.

There's quite a bit of stuff I'm seeing that could be merged, is there a good way for us to politely nudge for merging in the bug sub-forum if as just a forum reader/participant and not the original authors or a forum mod, come across stuff that has described the same problem in different ways?

And on that point... theres quite a lot of "evidence of bugs" in the feedback forum threads, which for quiet threads might be easy to merge or move, but busier active conversations may only warrant posting quotes/links, is there any preferred way to handle this? Calling for the mods to move vs just posting the link or quote in the most appropriate bug thread already in the bug sub-forum?

No, in this case there isn’t a good way to do this.

The “best” way to do this is to report the thread, and in the description give us a link to where it should go.    The report button on each post (found under the “…” in the upper right of each post) acts as a bug/ticket tracker on its on.   It allows the moderators to track issues on the forum.  For Pete’s sake, please don’t mistake the report button for the game bug tracker.   :)        The downside of this is that it creates a fairly large burden of housekeeping work for the moderator staff.    But this is the only real option so…..

Posting in the thread itself and pinging the moderators will do the job, but only if you ping the moderators that are actually online.   And then after the merge, that post looks ugly and adds confusion, since the link is now self referential.   And if you only post the link, the mods will never see it, as we’re rarely trolling though individual tech support / bug threads.

And please don’t pm us to move/merge.   If you can take the time to PM, you can report.   It’s nearly identical.    Due to the number of PM’s I’ve been getting from this, I’ve been merely reply “please report the thread”.    If the person you PM’d just went on vacation for three weeks, nobody will ever see that pm.

So, until further notice (like PD implementing a public facing bug tracker) the best option is to report the post, all the mods online see that and will get to it when they can.

Definitely think you guys have more important work to do at the moment than trawl the individual threads looking for duplicates given the polarized opinions over the quality of the release and the concerns with price... and all the existing KSP1 players still chatting...

Thanks @Gargamel for the quick reply, this is exactly why I asked for some advice about how the mods want to collectively handle things, decades of internet forums have trained my brain to think "report is for spam/threats/amazing person" but it is also usually the only thing all the mods have a shared view on... so if report and explain the situation is how the moderators want to do things... then I'm happy to do things that way.

Also, ouch, sorry to hear about the PM flood.

The stuff about only the current mods who are online will see the shout outs and how the merged stuff will look afterwards is also super handy context since I didn't know how this particular forum handles the move/merge.

Thanks @Gargamel for the quick reply,

Not a problem! But for what it’s worth, it was complete random chance I stumbled on the post.    If you ever have more questions about the forums, feel free to post them here:
