(Stock+DLC) Epic and elegant Sovietpunk LV4 Asteroid Space Station "Moinscow"

Recommended Posts

After exploring over 30 asteroids, I finally found a violet C-class magic asteroid.

Then, I spent three weekends designing my first LV4 space station.

The classification of space stations was described in this post.

Or it might be a station between LV3 and LV4.

In order to run it smoothly on my laptop, I only use stock + DLC parts without tweakscale and tried to limit the design to below 1000 parts.

Meanwhile, I hope it could be one of the most epic and elegant space stations in KSP ever.

At a lab meeting a month ago, I drew the first draft of the space station with pencil.

In the game, it finally looks like this.

I have designed other two smaller LV3 types of stations before.

Together with this station, they all look similar. I call them the "Quasar" type space station.

Their "accretion disks" consist of artificial gravity living rings and a docking ring. Their "jet streams" are the stator working area of the station.

The core of the station is a 101t violet astroid.

One "jet stream" building of the space station is used as a space academy "Moinscow College", and its design obviously refers to the main building of Moscow University.

The "Moinscow College" and "accretion disks" were first lauched and assambled. Then the magic asteroid was put into the complex.

The other "jet stream" is the "Kandau Institute", originally intended to be a mini Khalifa tower.

But the spire was removed later, and a statue of Kenin was installed on the tower, like the Palace of Soviets.

As a test, I was used to launched this part separately as a Mun base in this post.

It eventually orbits an H-class comet on Minmus orbit (100km). As a center for research, teaching and tourism.

An explosion of unknown cause left a large gap in its back. It is still under repair....  Luckily, the core wasn't damaged

There is a main circular corridor inside the space station.

Small or medium-sized spacecraft can be driven through or docked inside.

That's it for now. It is still in the process of modification.

I'm sorry for putting so many pictures, the game is too stuck for making video.

I hope you enjoy it.

Is that FreeIVA compatible?

It should be because it is stock and dlc only.

based on the looks, some areas might have a little trouble because the are surface attached (AFAIK you can't move through surface attached objects) \
