What are the default controls for driving a rover?

Recommended Posts

The rover I just designed-- a fairly simple one-- my first, reacts in unexpected ways to my inputs.  By pressing "W", it pitches up and in fact flips right over.  If I press "S", it pitches back down and moves backwards.  "A" and "D" do almost nothing to steer the beast but they do try.  I tried the "IJKL" set of keys and they do nothing, same with "Shift" and "Ctrl".   When I touch nothing, it sits nose up about 30° and jitters like a crack addict.  SAS seems to make no difference either though it should with this model.

Trouble with rovers is that they use the same keys as reaction wheels. WASD. One change you can make is to right click your reaction wheels (including probe cores) and switch them to "SAS Only" mode. With that, WASD should no longer cause it to tip.

That might be a separate issue. Post a picture if it's still doing this.

I assume it isn't supposed to pitch. You have to remember that S is both the button for pitching down and the button for driving backwards. And if your rover has any active reaction wheels or even RCS (for whatever reason), it will pitch down when driving backwards. You can fix it by disabling those systems (that is possible in KSP 2, right???)

For the other stuff: Without screenshots it's hard to help

To answer your title question: the default controls are indeed WASD as far as I know

You can also try Q & E.
