First and second launches were fine. Made a new craft and painted it (first two were unpainted) and then launched it and it falls apart at around 20km every time. The camera floats away from the craft and random parts are still attached through thin air. Tried multiple launchpads and switching back and forth to other crafts but nothing worked. Landing legs clip through the fairings and float away when it falls apart.

edit: after more trial and error, I'm fairly certain it has something to do with fairings. After removing fairings this did not happen, and I could also redo the fairing and it worked. I made the fairing larger in case it was clipping with a part inside which may have caused this.

There's definitely some sort of change that happens around 22km above sea level.  This has been a thing since before patch 3.  Maybe as far back as day 1 of early access.

If I just fly a rocket straight up through this altitude I always see some sort of visual artifacts as I pass through it.  Usually with the exhausts of the engines and the contrails.

If I'm flying a particularly unwieldy craft that's under a lot of stress as it passes through this altitude I find that there's also some sort of shock that the craft experiences.  Parts might break in the process and the whole craft might be destroyed.

Same for me, at 21km my probe flew out of the rocket through the fairing and i lost control, after trying to recover my vessel it just vanishes.
I hopefully have a video of it as it was for the weekly challenge
