The Exploration Era Begins

Thank you Nate & Team for adding more things to discover. I have and always will be playing the game mainly for exploration. Every serious craft and mission I have designed in KSP has had one purpose - to satisfy my curiosity of peeking deeper into the depths of the universe.

Nate, I bought the first game on Steam when it was very early. I had a computer that could barely run it, and it was Pre-Science Mode. I made a few rockets that took off and crashed, and quickly forgot about it. Too young to invest the time, and too ignorant of what was coming to understand the point of what I had already.

Then one day I saw this:

I didn't start playing this game seriously until I saw this trailer. I learned how to play from YouTube channels; and got my questions answered on this forum. It's been hard to watch the torches and pitchforks ranting every day in the same forums that made me feel so welcome, taught me to be patient, and celebrated with me when I finally started to find my feet

I'm glad this is something you can share with your kid.  My father was less than a third my age when Armstrong put footprints on the moon. We were born decades too late for Apollo, and a decade too soon for Artemis; let alone Mars. For us, there is dreaming, inspiring, imagining, and creating.

KSP1 has raised a generation of NASA and SpaceX engineers. I hope the second game does the same.

I also want to say: We Do appreciate it. This game has been the full time jobs of many people we've not met. Thank you for holding out while the Forums went crazy with flames and condemnations. To those who found bugs and glitches, thank you for investing the time and effort to shine a spotlight.

As the song says: Things Can Only Get Better.

Welp, as an active critic of the state of the project over the last year, I will say that I hope this works out well. I can't honestly say I'm excited, as the last year has moderated my expectations into the floor, but I do hope this succeeds. I'll be playing around patch launch, and we'll see if I feel that the games actually worth my time, rather than wasting it by spontaneously disassembling all my missions. But if its actually good, I won't be shy about saying so either.

I feel that "For Science!" is the point where (despite still a lot of issues) KSP2 will become slightly better than fully modded KSP1.
Really looking forward to it and very excited to see that progress has been made, even if not as fast as we would've liked.

Great job Nate and team, I hope all the criticism that you've had to endure this past year turns into unequivocal praise!

Looking forward to playing KSP2 this evening, also pretty jealous of your son :D

I choose to see it as a good sign. If it's a father/son bonding experience, then it's likely in good order. Kids get frustrated with glitches almost as fast as experienced gamers. ^_^

Nate and team, been playing KSP1 ever since 2014 and it has continuously lived in my mind rent free. While being an adult makes you consider all possible realistic outcomes of an Early Access project the size of KSP2, it makes me genuinely happy to see that almost, if not all team members behind KSP2 are real fans and truly passionate people.

Earlier this year I made the biggest and most expensive PC upgrade I've done in my years of gaming, for the solely purpose of running KSP2 as it deserves. I hereby entrust you with making this game the best it can ever be for decades to come :D
