Anyone have a Kindle Paperwhite?

I'm thinking of purchasing one of these. I'm not planning on creating any accounts or going online or connecting to wi-fi with it. I do not have a smart phone and will not be 'syncing' with it. I just want to upload some e-book files from my PC and read them on Kindle. And hopefully, not be constantly bothered with 'reminders' that I'm not logged in or registered.

Will it do that? Or will I have to 'throw in' all of my private and personal details first, just to get it to run? (I was stung by this before, after purchasing a DJI product. Once bitten twice shy.)

Will it accept PDF, TXT, and other formats or will I be tied in to buying stuff from Amazon?

Thanks for any help.

I have a kindle paperwhite older model that my wife uses. It can be used completely disconnected from Amazon. The caveat is that you will need to connect to receive software updates but you could decide not to upgrade it you don't want to.

It supports the following formats of eBooks;  Kindle Format 8 (AZW3), Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; HTML DOC, DOCX, JPEG, GIF, PNG, PMP through conversion.

You can use a program like Calibre Library to manage your e-book library on your own PC to transfer eBooks via USB cable or by private Wi-Fi connection in your own home.  It also has the ability to convert  any EPUB books you hay have to the unprotected MOBI format to enable the kindle to display them.

 Hope this helps.

Note: I have switched to using a reMarkable 2 tablet which meets my eBook needs very well and serves as a replacement for needing to keep a paper notebook.

When I was buying my first ebook readed back in 2010 I made a conscious decision to avoid Kindle.

Last year when I was buying my most recent one, I made the same decision.

My reasoning? Well I figured I wouldn't have control over anything I put on Kindle, taking into account that Amazon demonstrated the ability and willingness to remotely deleted peoples ebooks. To make things worse in the most ironic way possible, it the deleted book was Orwell's 1984.
