Given the latest forecast I've seen, which is close to this one.  We're looking at the Ft Wayne / Ohio border area.

And I know it's last minute, but here's a Go Pro filter holder I designed if you're planning on doing wide angle time lapse:  https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6568730

I'm not goin but my filter is the solar filter sandwiched between 2 cheap uv filters lol. I can't afford an actual solar filter.

I forgot how crappy I-40 is

Never forget.

It's bad.

...

Why it's not 3 lanes in each direction for its total length is beyond me.  Practically needs a dedicated Trucks Only lane.

Yeah, we use I-25 mostly… 40 is horrid

That's what this is designed to do.   Uses simple mylar.    If you can get bargain pop-tarts with unlabeled packaging, that would work too.

Ya, I just bought a square of filter and cut out a circle. I didn't know you could use pop tarts sheets lol.

Figuring out where to go is an absolute crap shoot.  NWS/NOAA has 3 different maps of predicted cloud cover, and they're all different for the same location by as much as 50%.

Yeah, seems like there'll be only one time we'll know for sure...My guess is the high clouds will be thin, so the big danger is probably that moisture coming up from the Gulf, figuring out where that stops/how far it will get by totality

In Amarillo right now. Unsure if stop at okc and drive east early, or drive farther

Stop and eat at the Big Texan.  It's hard to miss.  Big Texan standing out front.  Lots of semis.  Great food!

Aight, Looks like North or West of Little Rock will be good for you on Monday.  The maps slightly disagree, but that's where I'd go.   I'd stop on the far East side of OKC, crash for the night, and make a final determination ~0600.   Seems a 4 hour drive from OKC will get you to any good spot.

Yeah, I booked in the middle of town, just off highway (Bricktown?) at one of the hotels fighting it out for best in town. We’ll be on the road by 6am, shouldn’t be rush hour issues that early. Road trip with a hotel with a concierge ;)

My morning commute starts at 6am and I have heavy traffic to deal with.  If you're at all worried about it, leave 30 minutes early.   Although, if you're heading out of town, it shouldn't be an issue.

No, I just know how cities work generally :D

Rush hour in abq means it takes 10 min longer… crowded I-25 moving 40 for a while instead of 80

Hi everyone,

In Montreal, Quebec, here. Weather looks great for once (we got snow and rain all week but it should be sunny tomorrow, which is all that matters).

We will be going to a park 2km from our home, with the kids. The excitement is rising!

Hope you will all have a clear sky.

I'm converging on roughly the same area for my destination, coming in from the south. Somewhere around where the centerline crosses the Oklahoma-Arkansas border, only one of the models on Windy really says the clouds will get up into OK from Texas so anything farther than that should hopefully just be greater assurance.  Various other models seem to be showing the clouds ending somewhere between Dallas and the Texas border.

Best of luck to everyone chasing tomorrow, clear skies and enjoy the spectacle!

Had thought about broken bow ok… trying to stay as easy as possible for RTB to albuquerque since son has not only school, but “grandparents day,” and grandma is showing up

Gonna be a 12+ hour straight drive

16 counting getting to path from here

Damn… my iPhone did a system update overnight, and that erased all my offline map data that I had updated into the Maps app. Re-downloading that gig of data now.

If you are going to be driving in the boonies, or in any area that may see cell data connections overwhelmed during eclipse day, it's a good idea to have your map app offline data downloaded.
