Wake Up Call

OP99

Recommended Posts

I posted this on discord but was recommended to put here:

"Havent been on here in a while.... just caught up with the updates..... KSP 2 has been publicly released for 1 year and the game is still no different to KSP 1. What a joke. At some point, we need to accept, the devs are not equipped to make this game. Ive just been playing a game yesterday, called Manor Lords, made by 1 dev..... and its polished, its beautiful and looks like AAA. Im not trying to sell that game, im just trying to say, we have a team of devs here who are unfortunately in over their heads. To see nothing implemented after 1 year.... which was after like 5 years... is embarassing. Its all well and good with their updates, 'working on this... these bugs are complex'... yh ok but we DGAF? thats your job to fix bugs. Dont be distracted by the projection they have a hard task. Point is, the game was released, and sold at £50 or whatever it was. Manor Lords is £25. Been playing KSP1 for like a decade, waited 6 months for KSP 2 to be playable, actually enjoyed science update aswell, but the pace is not REMOTELY close to respectable. I'm sure im one of many, but ive given up. Good luck in the future"

While I’m also unhappy about KSP2 progression this post does absolutely nothing.

You gave no finer details besides “the game is still no different to KSP 1.” You provided zero insight, didn’t mention any features that you feel are lacking or any ideas to improve upon, fix or implement. Have you provided any bug reports?

What was the goal here? What if a developer decides to read this post, what do you expect to happen? “Oh OP99 is unhappy, let’s get the ball rolling right now!”
This is not the way…

Also you compared this to a game that’s not even in the same category, has entirely different gameplay etc.

move along, you won’t be missed.

This forum was a community once, where people knew each other. Your kind of answer ("only say productive things") is just sad, and your "you won't be missed" is offensive as hell. I, for my part, do miss all the engaging and cool discussions in this forum, and I miss many of the older gang, who seemingly have gone silent over the new Kids on the block. And, yes, I like to hear from people leaving. Not that I like it, but I want to know.

There are KSP 1 veterans here, that are much more interesting than you. Next time, save your sarcasm, it won't be missed.

Arguably among the best on the internet, even! One used to be proud to be a member here.

Your post does absolutely nothing, lol. @OP99's post does tells us something. Lets look at some context, shall we? Nate Simpson dropped a tone-deaf, year-late update and the only other thread getting traction around here is "What Happened to Increased Communication?"

I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but it seems pretty clear that OP99 is liquided at being told nothing about KSP2.

So you joined to say that you're leaving

If I ran a company, and my customers were going to the trouble of signing up to my forum specifically to say "Bye, you lost a customer," I'd drop everything to look into it immediately!

Fake edit: Before anyone schools me on how game dev works, I don't care, lol. This is business 101.

The devs, designers, and managers don't need a wake up call. They are either already more awake to their development challenges than any of us regular customers, or if they think things have been perfect then they are beyond waking up.

Staff might be limited in what they can publicly say, but I'm convinced most of them believe that the development process has been less than ideal. A company's internal workings aren't usually a topic for public forums. In a few years maybe an insider will make it part of a software engineering course.

KSP 2 was already years behind schedule when Early Access started. That information was readily available to every customer. Late software projects tend to become more late over time. Customers have no choice but to live with it. Adding/replacing some people is unlikely to help very much. Tossing more people at a late project frequently makes things even later, so it's just wasted money.
