Anyone?

Has anyone already invested money on the premise of a successful KSP2?

Perhaps that is the greatest disappointment of all, taking care of the losses.

Didn't get insurance?

That would explain the nerves of many of the "fans" I read around here...

Money? Just money?!

Hit it higher!
Countless hours of people's worktime hours, put on the KSP-2 forum reading.
Countless sleepless nights, spent in awaiting of the coming KSP-2 release.
Marriages, broken or not appeared during this seven-year-long endless period of uncertainty, when people weren't sure if they have to care about their lives, or the KSP-2 release will happen next week, so all their long-term plans will be flushed by the suddenly appeared need in reading the tutorials, in getting used to the changed UI.

It's even hard to imagine the overall harm to the world economy, caused by the KSP-2 dramatic story...

I imagine the Youtubers who focused on KSP2 are the most out of pocket and distraught. Back to KSP1 and, thanks to the KSP2 debacle, with a burned and dwindling  audience not wanting to hear the word "Kerbal" much at the moment.

Eh. They'll pivot. Their viewers are in the same boat as all of us, looking for the next game to latch on to, and the content will adjust. The chaos of the switch would have been distracting, but I think they got the view spike on the scandal that hopefully compensates a little. And I don't think there will be a vacuum for long. I don't think there's a game quite like what KSP2 was meant to be anywhere on the horizon, but plenty of other games that would be interesting to that community in the mean time.

Everything is money, time is money, family is money, a hobby represents money. If it is quantifiable, it is money.
