how it works? is it just heat shield or parts really modify in-game parameter "radiative flux"?

It has an insanely high heat tolerance and very little heat conductivity, i havent tested it as a heat shield but feel free to test it out as one.

Quote

maxTemp = 30000
    skinMaxTemp = 30000
    heatConductivity = 0.001

it just ordinary heat shield, not sun mirror. also

Quote

entryCost = 275 056
    cost = 203 050

why so much?

is it possible to make part work only when atmosphere is not present?

Not quite sure what you mean by this

Is this like a JWST-style sunshield or something else?

It can indeed work as a sunshield

i was thinking how to making it work ONLY as sun mirror and not as heat shield . if you slam craft into thick atmosphere with this in front it would be fine, and this is not proper behavior for sun mirror, it should break due drag pressure or\and skin friction heat.

forget about that, i get how to get it work as it need to. it should look like this

breakingForce = 50
breakingTorque = 50
maxTemp = 934
skinMaxTemp = 934
heatConductivity = 0.14
emissiveConstant = 0.001

with such parameters it would be proper sun mirror.

also two request: remove Resurfaced dependency and change  triangular pattern to hexagonal.

Ah thank you, I'm not too well versed on the config parameters, will be updating that soon.

Yeah but then the reflections won't look as good

version for low end computers, with simple texture only.

also cost i think should be lowered to something like

	entryCost = 200000
	cost = 10000

its very niche, specialized,  part that not everybody need, in contrast to rocket engine that in use left and right, ie mass produced. mainsail, 2nd most powerful engine, cost 13000 - so its very comparable price for rare-use polished foil.

also mass

mass = 4.51

its just too big. its not even lead, it osmium.

I'll play around with TU and see if it's any better or not

The benefit of TU is that it supports some features like recolour masks that resurfaced/shabby does not (yet).

Resurfaced (which works via shabby) has the advantage of being better optimized under the hood. Additionally the shaders used in resurfaced were made specifically to facilitate getting a good PBR result while using a base colour map and alpha channel that still works well for stock legacy shaders. additionally it has some features like packing metal maps from multiple materials into 1 texture for efficiency.

If your part is intended exclusively for PBR and requires either mod as a dependency, purely from the point of view of the end look you can achieve an identical result with both. Using one over the other also does not introduce any conflicts. Parts using resurfaced can exist in an install alongside parts using TU no problem.

The only conflict would be with a mod using TU that patches all parts like Magpie which people shouldn't be using anyway.

In short, for your use case it really doesnt matter which PBR mod you use.

PS. The parts look great btw!
