Recommended Posts

OK SDIR, i have the design but cannot post it just yet, later tonight i will be able to though so stick around, at launch it is between 17 and 19 tonnes

so pretty good overall

I know this is not part of the challenge, but, I am in need of a very small 3 man ssto for my space station, hopefully under 15 tonnes, no mods. Can anybody help me?

Right on it :), lump's craft will be better probably but i'm faster huehue.

Hammerhead I craft file. Ship is based on Mk1-2 pod since i don't like the Mk3 cockpit and i wanted for the ship to have 3 man already on board on mission load.

Unfortunately it weights above 15t (22 to be exact) but carries up to 750m/s Dv into 100km orbit. I really like how nice to fly it turned out as most of my ships are nightmares to control.

Minimum intake air to support two engine full thrust is around 0,7 so its able to get to 25km /1500m/s on jet power alone.

This is how it looks like:

Cheers!

I went for the rocket approach , it is 25 tonnes that is only because i assumed you wanted rcs, if you don't i can get it much closer to 18 tonnes.

here is a pic of it:

it can get to orbit, but if you are not against seats it could get much further, SDIR could you please define some basic needs other than the ones you said, e.g. rcs or not so i can optimize it.

in fact if you are not against seats it would have a massive performance boost.

Edit: Nao did you see my 4000/5000 m/s delta-V once in orbit SSTO, it is my most powerful yet and could probable land on moho (but not return)

@lump

Lol it's Nerva only? or there are some small engines below the pods ? Anyways Nice :P, >need resist urge to try rocket chair SSTO<

4000-5000m/s in orbit :0 oooo, i'm trying to cut on procrastination so i missed it, can you give a link?

OMG I love you guys. Thank you sooooo much! I'll take all of them to Laythe. :D I'll post images if I get around to it.

lump, RCS is not a necessity (I have a tug or I can use another rocket to dock it) and has to have at least one kerbal in a cockpit of some sort. Seats are fine, as long as it has docking ports in two locations.

And Nao, I will be launching it tomorrow onto my tug to Laythe, should have no problem getting there. I just want to know if it can land with 90% fuel load?

You can see the rim of a nozzle just above the Nerva throat, it's either a T30 or a T45 I can't tell for sure. lump, does clipping engines with cubic struts still work for you in 0.20 without debug menu? At least for me, it seems clipping without debug menu is greatly reduced now.

It seems they "fixed" it , at least we have debug mode :P

And after you mentioned there is an engine there, mystery solved!

Also damn , the kerbals are heavy, need to cut on the snacks!

Jeb complained that the screens are too low and couldn't see the movie well.

(LV909+LV-N+SBR and T800+T200 fuel tanks), version without Kerbals and rcs, in orbit no problem. But after manning its way off :D If you like the idea SDIR i can make it work tomorrow :)

edit: forgot to answer:

It has no problems flying in all fuel configurations, when full its little oversteer-y at AoA above 40deg but if you have altitude its not a problem to catch it. I think it could get another ton into orbit so feel free to add whatever you like to it.

Cheers and gl!

ok, now that i don' have t have rcs or those heavy pods i should be able to do it much closer to the limit with alot more fuel to spare

i will post pics tomorrow guys.

EDIT:considering that those pods took up so much of the mass this new ship should eb able to carry rcs anyway, or any other features needed for the flight
