Very nice craft there! How was the lift off? Did it fling itself off the launch pad of did it rumble shake and claw its way off the pad? Aka slow lift off. Myself I enjoy seeing the rocket/craft claw it way off the launch pad in a slow lift off and try hard to make that happen on my larger rockets.

ÃÂt was faster than if it had an Apollo payload but still slow

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B-748mPPvmGGTXRlTnJ2azNpZlU&usp=sharing Crashes and more Crashes, Can use some of the parts but when loading pre-made ships it crases as soon as i hit launch.

Way to tired to run it on a clean install and do the whole add one mod thing as i've been up for 30+ hours now, already done bug hunting on 3 other mods today, will get back on a later date with my final result of the hunt.

I'm not sure what I may have done wrong, but obviously I've mucked something up to get this phenomena of the pre-deployed pool toys:

I have removed and reinstalled the Apollo CSM files to no avail, so something else must be afoot. Any ideas?

Reinstall fasa i guess since you ruined it :P

Which, as I stated, I've already done. I use FASA parts extensively and only the Apollo chutes are malfunctioning.

Do you also have DennyTx installed ?

No, just FASA. I intentionally resisted mixing mods this time.

Normally I can sort these things out, but this one has me baffled.

Still bumbed an IVA for the Apollo CM was never made. Sad face.

Try Orbiter and run a few Apollo missions with the NASSP mod. You won't find all those switches quite so cool anymore. :)

Wanna bet? :P

Nathan, you're an exception. As am I. Give me a procedural checklist any day.

Unless, of course, you're on a pirate ship. Then I'll run like hell from you!

Touché. Although I have no idea what they turned me into, ingame, after I left; when I was still there I was a mild-mannered political revolutionary who wasn't very good at swordfighting but could solve a mean math problem. I'm, like, some mafia don now?

You have, however, given me a neat idea for a mod. Not that I can do it any time soon, but procedural checklists sounds awesome.

I'm really enjoying this add-on, especially the Saturn 1B. I've noticed that after chute deployment that the floatation collar and righting bags inflate while the Command Module is still in the air. Is there a setting that I can tweak to have them deploy after splashdown / chute cutaway?

Thanks :-)

Actually I saw a post on Dennys thread either today or yesterday and it seems that he is pretty close to finishing the Apollo IVA. Idk if Frizz will integrate dennys IVA into his apollo cm, but I can't see why not.

Anyone building proposed Saturn variants? Built an INT-18ish vehicle for crew-ferrying, good out to a 100km circular orbit with 8 J-2s and two Titan 6-segment boosters on the first stage with the standard single J-2 on the second stage. Will probably do pretty well with 4 boosters for launching light to moderately heavy payloads.

Good morning everyone.

In the OP in the first picture, is this grey ring that looks lika a decoupler or SAS module.

But I was unable to find it in the latest release, did I miss something?

I think you're talking about the Saturn Instrument Unit. Look under the Probes tab and you should find it there.

Its the computer and guidance for the J2 booster section of the rocket. They used it for cool things like crashing the spent stage into the moon to record the seismic data and blasting it into the sun.

Nice rocket, given enough time and money its amazing what they could have done with 1970's technology....

Anyone building proposed Saturn variants?

I don't have any picture to post but I run an INT-18 with 4 "Edited" UA-1207 SRBs. 5 J-2S engines in the First stage (my own cfg loosely based on the FASA J-2.) Beyond the fact that it is again a J-2S on the 2nd Stage, it is stock Saturn IB after the first stage and boosters. Incidentally 1st stage fuel tank is the long tank (S-1C), not the stock (S-II) stage tank. I am using the S-II engine plate however.

Edited = Altered CFGs (copied, Changed and Renamed to create duplicate entries) These follow MY formula for "real" in the KSP. I have successfully gotten a LEM + full CSM equipped Command module into Low Kerbin orbit. I did not have enough DeltaV to get that into Mun or Minimus orbit however (Given that Saturn II was a replacement for Saturn IB that is a significant growth in launch capability without a significant improvement in chances to get to the Mun.)

My Use of the Saturn II is to get Station components to my Space stations around Kerbin in my sandbox game. After all the "Real" INT-18 should have gotten 66,000 kg into Low earth orbit. During Setup I calculate the load vs # Thrust required to pull a half gee of acceleration through lower atmosphere. That determines HOW MANY if any J-2S engines I have on at start. My calculations are Number of engines active = WAG. Just one MOL tank (or alternative lab/hab 2.5m tanks) I am just using my SRBs.

The only exception is Fuel tanks and crew. I prefer my Titan IV variant running LR-89-AJ-11A, and LR-91-AJ-11A engines on UA-1207 SRBs (again my edited ones,) that act as the station tanker.. It has enough thrust to carry a Large Silver or White Titan tank isolated from engines into orbit with my stations, it costs less to launch and less is therefor lost after all recoverable parts are recovered (even if you fully recover all parts from a Saturn II, it still would LOOSE more credits than would be expended on a completely lost launch of my Titan IV tanker.

SRBs, SRB decouplers, SRB seperation rockets nosecones = 2x cost (4 vice 2 identical SRBs) I think you can see how this is already going

I have toyed with a Saturn II INT-18 sans the SRBs but the core package does not have enough fuel/thrust2weight to hurl a Big G system WITH RETURN capabilities into LKO. I tend to have an orbit in the low 70,000 meter range (or LOWER) as max when I only have de-orbit fuel left.

Currently my re launched career is only unlocked half way through the Gemini Titan Packages (still have to unlock Winged-G, Big G and a few smaller things like Drogue parachutes and SRBs.)
