I present to you Solar One, the first solar powered personal yacht !

Specs.

Propulsion :

- 4200 xenon units.

- 7 PB-Ion reactors.

- Max thrust : 3500 N.

- 480 monopropellant units.

- 12 RCS linear thrusters.

Electricity :

- 18 OX-STAT Photovolatic panels.

- 6 Gigantor XL Solar Array.

- 2050 electric units.

- Generating up to 121.5 electric units/sec.

Equipment :

- 1 front shielded docking port.

- 6 Communotron 16 for long range communication.

- 6 front Illuminator MkI for a good visibilty when docking another ship.

Haha, actually it's more about the fun of having a solar ship, because it accelerates as well as me-when-I-have-to-go-to-uni-after-a-party-with-the-hugest-hangover-ever.

Seriously, even with 7 ion engines, it's a space-snail. I'll work on that, maybe find a way to add a lot more engines.

Ive tried allot with the ion drive.

It will get you where you want to go, but itll take multi hour burns (and you cant time warp while throttled up).

That being said it looks amazing, kind of makes my think of a jellyfish.

Alt+> lets you override and use physical timewarp in space. It's pretty useful, but beware of falling apart.

But even with time warp the ion is too dam slow!

I pic a time when i even did some ion ships, but i forget now, because is not practical for maned vehicles. only probes.

Lol. You can also get the plugin called Dynamic Warp, it will let you accelerate another 8x , but its purely CPU acceleration so be warned. I don't use it for going past 4x

Question about the yacht, how much dV does it have? I'm thinking of using some ion powered ships as escape pods capable of returning to Kerbin from Jool (Laythe)
