Ramp Jump Challenge

Your Goal is to jump as many things as possible.

Rules

No wings or other lifting surfaces.

You get 10 pieces for your ramp surface. No Super long Ramps. (You can use what ever you want to support it though.)

Any rockets or thrusters must be ejected BEFORE you hit the ramp.

Must include one Kerbal in your vehicle.

Kerbal must survive the landing.

Use whatever mods you like just say witch ones.

Score

10 points- Jump the runway, short side.

50 points- Jump the launch pad

100 points- jump the VAB side building

250 points- Jump the SPH

500 points- Jump the tracking station

1000 points- Jump the VAB

10000 points- Jump the runway, longways!

2x bonus for each additional kerbal included in vehicle.

Jumping multiple objects at the same time adds points together.

that sounded like a fun challenge, unfortunately the collision handling makes high speed collisions with other vehicles rather unpredictable, most of them resulting in a crash/explosion or something like this: 77JokTn.png?1

Anyway, after 20 or so attempts i got lucky and actually went up the ramp instead of through it. Jumped over the SPH and the VAB in one go and landed with parachutes.

Used a basic jet engine that was stage-decoupled just before the ramp.

For the ramp, i used stock parts and 4 KAS winches with hooks to secure the ramp to the ground.

So, 250 (SHP) + 1000 (VAB) points :cool:

Well, I decided to give it a go.

So naturally, I went with the most complicated setup I could possibly think of: make EVERYTHING with one vehicle. Also, I am pretty sure I broke the ramp limit rule, but its not a terribly huge ramp at least (basically, I made the ramp 3 blocks wide).

Contains one ramp, one two-stage rocket buggy, and one center thingy with a rockomax counter-weight where jeb hangs out before he walks down a suspended railingless walkway over to the control chair of the buggy.

This is the farthest one I captured in-video, but our heroic jeb did not survive it sadly. Had he been able to stay in his seat though, it would have been an entry that cleared BOTH buildings in a single jump. And arguably the tracking station too if it weren't off to the side.

As you see, the general gist of the control setup I use is to rocket forward and basically cut engines and ditch stage a second or so before I hit the ramp. Less likely to crash horribly with something nice and light-weight.

While I didn't get a video of a survivor that jumped that larger building, I did get a screenshot of one that WOULD have cleared the larger building, had the ramp been closer.

I bet one of my little separatron sleds would jump the runway longways.

I bet your little separatron sled obliterates any ramp it encounters ;) Go ahead and try it, i would like to see your attempt. I think i can improve my designs to clear the Tracking Station in addition to SPH and VAB, and with the new seats maybe even 1-3 additional kerbals, but anything more will require an entirely new rover.

Could someone post a ramp .craft? I cannot for the life of me make one that actually can work.

MobileRamp.craft

This is my ramp. Uses Kerbal Attachment System Mod (KAS), so probably not (yet) 0.20 compatible. High chance of destruction if you hit it with more than 50m/s, but i got my record jump with it, so it definitely works. Drive it into position, eject all hooks, retract winches to max tension, and apply parking brakes.
