Sufficient Anonymity
Perfected my light combat SSTO.It carries 6 Hellfires in its internal missile bays, has 20mm cannon tucked under the front and will get to a 100km orbit with about 500m/s dv to spare. Justicier
Overall design based off of the rumored "Aurora" spy plane project. Four Rapiers and 1 Nerv for orbital maneuvers. Even with my poor SSTO ascent profile it still makes it to orbit with a 1/4 tank of fuel left... perfect for putting satellites up, crew transfers, and station maintenance. After hitting up my orbital refueling station, it's good to go a bit further...Last pic is of a Rover+skycrane assembly deployment to the mun... the Rover barely fit in the bay, and the skycrane is sitting behind it. After detaching the payload, it then becomes necessary to dock the skycrane to the rover in order to continue with the mission. A bit technical out of necessity but it worked like a charm. Captain Sierra
I was just wondering that... did we do something bad? I thought it was a good showcase... Perhaps it was because this got stickied as a thread of the month and the mods never unstickied it. TBH it deserves to stay stickied. MODS! sal_vager
Thread of the month means it's stuck for a month, if they were never unstuck we'd gradually clog up the whole page with stickies.
ScriptKitt3h
I'm trying to make this work...It hasn't reached orbit yet, but it most definitely has the fuel load and propulsion to do so.If anyone's willing to help me nail down a workable flight profile (I suck at flying 1.02 SSTOs), I'd be happy to send the craft file. Clouds
I've got a little story to tell of an awkwardly long SSTO and an attachment point that wasn't what it seemed. On the plus side, got to orbit with a full orange tank payload! That's the only part of the trip which worked correctly.Javascript is disabled. Sufficient Anonymity
Thread of the month means it's stuck for a month, if they were never unstuck we'd gradually clog up the whole page with stickies. Can't help but think it'd be worth leaving this and the stations threads as permanent fixtures as general inspiration threads and so we don't get clogged up with lots of minor threads (to be honest, I was always under the impression that was why they were sticky - hadn't realised we have threads of the month). hendrack
You know, if you want, there are SSTO lifters in these forums Of course there are and I steal take a lot inspiration from those craft files, but for me its more fun to build stuff myself. waterlubber
Here's mine. I have a cargo and a crewed version, and I use them for everything that requires less than 1000m/s of DeltaV in orbit. Javascript is disabled. View full album
RuBisCO
I built it to see if I could build a SSTO that could lift heavy cargo, and cargo of every kind. Turns out it can lift everything I need to explore the kerbol system (all-stock) and at 96% refund cost upon landing I can explore cheaply. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/123442-Xylol-SSTO-All-stock-space-plane-that-can-lift-36-tons-cargo-to-orbit
