Thanks! I have also decided to add retro rockets into the mix, seeing as I now know where they are.

EDIT:

The 401/2 stack is now done, took a bit longer than expected because I think one of the updates might have broken the fairings as they were firing inwards rather than outwards. Anyway, that is fixed now and I shall post a pic of the com[leted stack shortly

Ok I have completed the fairings and and ISAs for both the 400 and 500 series. The stack does seem a bit wobblier now so I'll see if I can do anything about that. Just SRBs and new decouplers to go, and then it's onto a new round of balancing

UPDATE:

All parts are done, and I am now balancing ready for a release

UPDATE 2:

Balancing pretty much done, I think I have sorted the wobbly rocket problem, and the SRBs are a bit more balanced (provided you attach them correctly) Release will occur shortly.

Ok guys, here it is, the updated version of the Atlas V. Get the updated files now. Click for either .zip or .rar format.

Please delete all old Atlas V parts prior to installation.

The pack is structured in 0.2x format and is in the same structure as the rest of the ULA pack so you can just copy it over.

Changelog

VERSION 2.0 RC2

  • Complete overhaul of every part of the Atlas V, apart from the Centaur forward adapter. Models and textures have both been massively improved
  • Rebalanced all parts, the CCB no longer weighs about as much as the Mun
  • Added roll torque to the Centaur forward adapter to try and combat the roll that was experienced by some, however due to the
unbalanced nature of the rocket setup, and the new 'soft' ASAS, it doesn't completely solve the problem
  • CCB no longer causes lag when moving inside the VAB, and on going the launch pad
  • Added Dual Engine Centaur
  • Added a small bio to each pre built craft
  • Added retro rockets that can be attached to the CCB to aid in booster separation
  • Slightly angled the SRB thrust so that they now fire through the center of mass, although some slippage may still occur

Wow Chimer Stellar update. The Delta IV is limping along like the IRL space program (Congress should have some group therapy. RosCosmos gets 53bil NASA hardly gets a fifth of that) However IRL is now looking really unbusy for two weeks so after I am done crying my eyes out (it has been an emotional month) there will be an update. Copenhagen Suborbitals is also getting new bits hopefully. I am also looking at doing some payloads so look for more info on that to come.

I think even bobcat had had a problem with unbalanced rockets. I think he has pulled his buran, because it won't fly now, and it's down to the new SAS. Unbalanced rockets needed the aggressive nature of the "hard" ASAS to keep them going straight, but the new "soft" ASAS just doesn't act aggressively enough to compensate fully. I love the new system, but for unbalanced rockets it's not the best

A few tips for those of you who have downloaded the new Atlas.

The retro rockets for the CCB it's the ring of cubes. They attach to the node inside the CCB and should be staged when you fire the ISA decoupler.

The SRBs can be a bit fiddly to attach to their decoupler. This is basically because the mesh for it is quite thin. When attaching them, bring up the center of thrust indicator and check it isn't twisted (it will twist a bit if you are using an x2/4x setup which is why they roll) if it is twisted you will suffer from uncontrollable roll that the ASAS will have no chance of stopping.

Anyway, hope you are all w enjoying the new pack :)

A quick update on things, was going to do some updates such as stretching fairings, and adding some separating rockets to the fairings (something similar to AIES possibly) and also try and implement an ACES upper stage as well as the new Athena series of rockets (both of which are in development). However my laptop is borked, and I cannot work on anything at the moment so everything my end will be on hold until I can find a solution to the problem.

ya know tiberion was working on a dream chaser for the community ISS project. he had up and requested that someone take over. you (Chimer4) or Blazingangel665 could do this.

Sounds fun. It can be on my project list below

1. Finish texturing first release of Compact Rocketry (signing up was an accident, I swear)

2. Finish the new DCSS which has proved to be the biggest drag since the invention of manual labor.

3. Finish Re-texture of the rest of the Delta IV at my new HiRes level (it looks beautiful I must say)

4. Create the GEMs for the Delta IV

5. Create the Tycho Brahe for the Copenhagen Suborbitals Pack

6. Don't fail school

7. 4m DCSS, 4m, fairings, dream chaser, new planet, learn to code, etc.
