I am from Adelaide, Australia, I also currently live in Adelaide, Australia, in the suburb of Hope Valley (this will be important)

Before European settlement, Adelaide was inhabited by the Kaurna people. In 1836, South Australia was officially proclaimed as a British Colony by The Old Gum tree (now known as Glenelg). The day is called Proclamation day here in SA (everywhere else it is Boxing Day). The CBD of Adelaide is 1 mile square, to the yard. Adelaide has a population of 1.23 million people as of the previous census.

Now onto Hope Valley. Hope Valley was settled as random, and not a town. Jacob Pitman purchased the first section of land in Hope Valley in 1839(80 acres) and in the 1840s he sold parts of his land. One buyer was a man named William Holden, who setup a butcher and a general store. The name Hope Valley was coined by Holden after he returned home and found his house and business was burnt down in a bushfire.

Hope Valley mainly was settled by German emigrants. In 1847 hermann Friedrich Koch purchased 8 acres and applied for a license to open a public house called the Bremens Arms(currently called The Valley Inn, which is a 2 minute walk from my house).

Sorry for the long post, I just love reading history of where I live :)

Deep Movie Voice: "In a world, where a galaxy is named after a chocolate bar..." :D

One man, bestowed with immortality, will venture to see if there truly is life beyond Earth. One man will venture to gain knowledge for all mankind. One man will venture to play golf on the moon. His loyalty is to a space program, and he's not willing to give up. Because this time, he's going to take a giant leap.

Neil Armstrong stars in: Milky Way. Coming this spring.

All Don LaFontaine-style movie voiceovers aside, I live in Pennsylvania. I'm not willing to say which part of PA I live in, because I don't want some mong coming to my door with a kitchen knife.

Northern Ireland, I'm sure you know, has a bit of an unfortunate history. Having suffered thrity years of terrorism, not to mention the odd dubious act from the police, I'm glad that I was born when the peace process (the drive to turn Northern Ireland into a functional realm) was well underway. By the way, if you're ever going to break your arm, you should do it in Belfast. People getting their bones broken was such a comman case during the Troubles, that Belfast boasts some of the finest surgeons on Earth.

I just went to Ireland last year! It was a blast! We hit up Dublin, Belfast, and Cork in the course of a week (or rather places in or near those cities). I had to admit, aside from suddenly needing Pound notes the change from Ireland to Northern Ireland was pretty hard to notice.

I, myself, was born in Hawaii and grew up in Southern California. I was a navy brat, and those cultural leanings eventually led to my own enlistment in the Air Force. I joined more for gaining a job skill than for any kind of warlike tendencies. I actually abhor warfare and even violence in general...

Still the Air Force led to me living overseas for 6 years. 2 years in Tokyo, 2 years in Turkey, and 2 years in Oxford. I can't complain too much, though Turkey could get a little weird (not complaining about 2 years of hazardous duty pay, though). I absolutely loved Japan and England. They didn't accept my requests for political asylum (I kid!).

Since I left the military, I moved to Iowa and got married. Now we have a little house on a little street in a little city that isn't really famous for anything. Iowa seems like a paradise most of the year until Winter rolls around and even then it isn't so bad. I have three cats that are demanding, annoying, and the most loving animals I've ever met. My wife is just demanding and annoying (I JOKE! I've been married all of one week).

We plan on going back to the UK for our honeymoon so I can show her where I used to live and eat kebabs. We'll also tour London, Newcastle, Edinburgh, and Inverness.

I'm from Simferopol - medium sized city (~500 000 people) on the Crimean peninsula in Black Sea. There are many intresting locations nearby related to down of Soviet spaceflight era: NIP-10 (Facility used for communication with first Luna missions) and NIP-16 (Big space communication center - part of soviet Deep Space Network analog). My parents also used to work for Óßâß Óрðýøт - firm, that constructed many of soviet space facilities (actually simferopol airport was backup landing spot for soviet shuttle Buran and one of my parents assignments was work on automatic landing guidance system software).

So, just like the title says: Where are you from and where to do live?

I'm from Kassel a city basically in the centre of Germany with a population of about 200.000 people.

By now I live about 50 km outside of Vienna, Austria (1.6 million inhabitants).

You all (should) know Vienna, so let me tell you a few interesting things about Kassel, wich you probably never heard of before.

Kassel used to be the capital of Hessen-Kassel, a kind of State in the Holy Roman Empire (a group of small states that would later more or less form germany). Now, in the 18th century our Landgrave Frederick II needed money for his palaces and parks and parties. So he decided to sell mercenaries (if you are american you can probably guess right now) to the british - the infamous hessians. Wich they used in the American Revolutionary War. You might have heard term "hessians" in history classes, in Sleepy Hollow or in Assassins Creed 3.

Also, ever heard of Grimms' Fairy Tales? You know, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White? The Brothers Grimm collected a big part of their stories in Kassel, from a Woman that was well versed in folk tales. She actually lived in the quarter of the city next to the one I grew up.

Also, my real name is Tobias.

I'm From NJ...

I'm from Louisiana, in the U.S. Although I live in a small town, it's in-between the more popular & large cities; the travel to them isn't bad. Despite beliefs, the majority of us aren't hillbillies and/or rednecks. I don't really have anything special to say of my town, but it's nice and peaceful here.

I live in a village called Eastham, in the North west of the UK. It's across the River Mersey from Liverpool, and it is in that city that I go to university. It is also that city that gives off a fair amount of light pollution, but the starry nights here are still pretty good. Not good enough to spot the likes of nebulae or the furthest planets, but good enough to grab a pair of binoculars and see just how many hundreds of thousands of stars are in the current sliver of sky.

Mostly harmless.

Surprised no one is from Norway...

I'm from Kristiansand, Norway! Originally... I moved this year because I went to automation in Mandal instead of Kristiansand because the school system sucks. Currently live with my aunt and cousin...

Jeg liker ost.
