can u swap the new power transmission and receive dishes. why should the receive be super big and unfoldes yet the transmission is a single size.
I'd vote for keeping them as-is. Transmission is easy. Receiving a useful signal is harder. Put enough power behind it, and a CB radio signal could reach Mars. The trick would be having an antenna large enough to receive that signal.

You always want a bigger receiving dish than a transmitting dish if possible. The beam doesn't just travel in a straight line, it has some spread so by having a bigger receiver dish you have the possibility to recover more power.

Are you, by any chance, running Linux? If so, have you updated to the 0.6.1 version of the mod? In version 0.6, the propellant loaders were misconfigured for case-sensitive paths.

I'm running Win7 I've just updated but still getting the same problem

Following what fractal_UK just said, also guys the large dish got broken with the 6.1 update, when Fractal_UK is happy with 6.2 he will release it to us, and they will receive far more power then the small one does.

you should add a up-transformer, to transform 1000 electric charge into 1 megajoule, it makes sense. and it adds mod compatibility for all those mods that add other electric charge generation methods (imagine using kethiolectric kethane reactors to make tons of EU, and use the xenon byproduct for a plasma thruster or ion engine)

lso z not sure if you caught me earlier. I think the antimatter tanks need updated

It's planned, as well as lot of other things, but things, but no any actual progress/making currently for some reasons, just some "thoughts". I will make something eventually but it will be not very frequent for a while.

Actually, this is wrong.

The beamwidth (or dispersion) of a wave is related to the antenna size as lambda/L. So, a big dish on recieve and a small dish on transmit has the same overall link budget as a small dish on a recieve and a big dish on transmit, all other things being equal.

Thus, as one would find in this link : http://www.rfcafe.com/references/electrical/ew-radar-handbook/one-way-radar-equation.htm

and scrolling down to Equation 5, you will see that hte one way link budget (which is what you have in your transmitted power simulation) contains Gt (gain of the tnansmitter) and Gr (gain of the receiver) in the equation, and both to the first power.

Yes, and all that math does not account for the fact that your transmitter and receiver could be half way across the solar system. Good luck hitting a needle at those distances.

You just like picking arguements without merit don't you? He is already modeling a set of two antennas setting up a link budget 'across the solar system'. The argument in question was the GAIN of those respective antennas. And, by the way, a bigger antenna makes your aiming requirement more difficult, not easier.

PS - we do that all the time in real life, and i'm including myself in that we as a person who actually does that.

Agreed. Pretty sure I was replying to him in the first place, and I am pretty sure he would have no problem with the equations I linked judging from my previous conversations with him. Objections are with rabid responses from fans who view any and all non rah rah posts as attacks.

I generally dont post much because of the fans.

Solid math and reasoning. I'm sure Fractal_UK will definitely consider it. If not you can always edit the .cfg files and just swap the two around on your on game. Might want to do it for the time being anyways.

Meh, dont really use that feature, yet anyway - just wanted to correct his mistake. Because, it kinda opens up possibilities. He could, for example, set every dish to transmit or receive (this is not universally true, but is generally true for many systems), and assign each dish a gain. Then depending upon which transmitter dish you linked to which receive dish, the game could trivially compute a link budget based upon gain * gain * 1/Range ^2 and estimate a link budget loss. YOu can use this to , for example...

calculate how fast you transmit data (e.g. science)

or

how much transmitter power loss you have from your power satellites

or

if you were rebuilding duck's remotetech functionality, you could compute what range you have a workable link budget, and when you are 'out of range'

probably more than that as well, if you wanted to think about it for a while.

You could imagine having dishes that could function as either transmitters and receivers depending upon how you configured them. Not just in terms of receiving microwave power either, there are others you could imagine doing with large microwave dishes. One thing I'm considering is adding a Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) temperature experiment, where you attempt to measure tiny differences in the CMB temperature across the sky in order to generate science.

For now though, I'd rather stick to the simplest arrangement.

I already have a list of features as long as my arm to implement and I also need to get these bugfixes out.

I know for a while we've been having a problem with 3.75m radius parts not being very nicely attached, now I've managed to reconfigure the breaking force and breaking torque cfg values to produce something a lot lot better.

Some of you may remember I built a 3.75m antimatter powered craft back a few pages ago and showed how to strut it up to hold it together. With the new changes, I decided to test them to the limit by removing all of the struts. I also thought, why not make it even more difficult and fly at max throttle?

It barely even wobbles.

Are you sure you have installed the mod properly? Can you check your installation and make sure you don't have something like 2 GameData folders inside each other. It should be [Kerbal base directory]\GameData\WarpPlugin and then you should have a bunch of files and other directories in there.

I'm pretty sure the only way that that can happen is if the game can't find the propellants file.

That's got it I'd installed it inside another file so it was going Kerbal Space Program\Gamedata\KSP-Interstellar\WarpPlugin

No problem!

I've also added a warning message to the upcoming version of the mod that will automatically warn users if they've installed it to the wrong place when they try to make use of the rockets. Hopefully that will be some help to other users.

Is there any kind of bonus for having a lab at/near an anomaly? Other than it can provide a cool backdrop for screenshots, of course.

Awesome idea! I don't think there is currently a bonus, however.

By the way... anyone think 1,000 tons is too large for an orbital refueling station / AM harvester orbiting at 900km over Kerbin?

Thankfully you launch Kethane tanks empty. Certainly made it easy! Gonna take about 635 days to fill that 80,000AM tank with only 30 collectors though...
