That's probably the closest so far. Nightmares would almost certainly encompass pretty much everything. I'm willing to accept that, if y'all don't feel like trying to guess the exact term I was looking for. (I'll tell you anyway, though.)

(Nightmares not as is things you find specifically in your dreams, just things that are basically the worst that you can possibly imagine.)

The term I was looking for was Eldritch Abominations. The things that defy the laws of our universe, akin to the most horrifying form of god-like monstrosity you can ever imagine -- and worse. (Nightmare is really probably the closest term anyone could have come up with, so StrandedonEarth gets the next riddle.)
