Yes, Merry Christmas to everyone here who celebrates in one way or another. In our household, it has become a tradition to watch the Apollo 8 Christmas Eve broadcast. The kids don't get the significance of it because it happened so long ago (it happened before even their uncle was born!), but I try to explain to them that it really was one of the greatest adventures of all time.

Happy solstice! Personally I do not feel much connection with the christmas story, but I do with the feast it was originally based upon. The returning of the light is something I can truly appreciate and celebrate. A green tree to represent the fertility of nature - to which it is now returning, with balls representing fruit and lights for... well... the light. The food and presents show the abundance that returns with the light and should of course be shared with your loved ones. No need to add anything to that, I would say! Cherish what you have and share it with those you love.

In Hawaiian slang, "Merry Christmas" becomes "Mele Kalikimaki", because that's as close as you can get to its pronunciation using the Hawaiian alphabet (the five vowels and h, k, l, m, n, p, and w). I just learned that a couple days ago, and found it fascinating.

I'm an Atheist, and I agree, Camacha said it fabulously. I don't think I can muster up enough anger to disagree with Cam without causing some horrible mental disease to be started within me.
