No fuel getting to later stages?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I looked through the forums, but haven't really seen a good answer; I'm just getting started in the 'career' mode, and I've been having intermittent issues with fuel getting to later stages of my rocket. For example, the main fuel stage doesn't get any fuel here, nor does the final stage.

Here's a pic: I must be doing something wrong, but its a pretty simple rocket, so I'm not sure what. I moved over the stages diagram to make it smaller:

Thanks for the help! I'm just getting started, so I appreciate tolerating the noob question.

I don't see any problems with your build. Are you sure the problem is fuel not getting to the engines? I see you've got it set up to spacebar1=separate stage, then spacebar2=activate engine. Are you hitting spacebar twice between stages?

I'm guessing the rocket is breaking due to the lack of struts, and the violent thrust created by the solid boosters. Try pushing f3 during the flight to see if it reports any breakages.

You can dial back the power of the SRBs during the building stage by right clicking on them and selecting a lower thrust level.

Make unlocking the "EAS-4 strut connector" a priority as well. They're basically like KSP duct tape.

Hi Thanks for the reply! Yes I'm hitting space twice, and looking at the engine, no fuel reaches it. Here's another pic with the problem in flight. As you can see, the solid boosters did decouple nicely, but no fuel is getting to the main engine:

Posting is only showing the build in the VAB.

Sounds like you don't have the liquid engines throttled up when you are activating them. Your Nav Ball will show if that is the case or not. SRBs fire regardless of the state of the throttle setting. Otherwise, nothing wrong with your design other then you could replace the LV-30 on the upper stage with an LV-909 once you have it. The design can reach Mun or Minmus and return easily.
