Simulated Attack on KSC

Recommended Posts

This one is garenteed explosions and you don't need to know how to build a good designer. Here's the story: Gene Kerman decided it would be beneficial for the space center to go under a quote "catastrophe simulation" for failed launches and attacks from rouge and evil kermans. He puts you in charge of build a craft of destruction and gives you the guidelines and a map of the space center marked up in many colors. You must build either a rocket or a plane that can rain simulated death and destruction onto the space center without hitting the flags and injuring and or killing any of the kerbals on site. He does give you permission to destroy any vehicles parked in the marked areas. Here are the guidelines:

Rules of engagment:

Must design a plane or a rocket not both.

Must contain at a minimum one kerbal of your choice.

You must show that have tweaked your rocket/plane in some fashion.

You are only allowed infinite fuel and part clipping.

If you use any mods you will be placed in a completely separate division from the full stock rockets/planes.

A weapon is defined as a small part of your rocket/plane that is only attached at one point and can leave your rocket/plane at anytime.

Once you have used all your weapons you must successfully abort with your kerbal in one piece.

You must provide either photo evidence of everything or a video. If you just hand me the craft file I will not count it.

You may submit multiple times only if you are doing both a stock rocket/plane and a moded rocket/plane.

Scoring:

This map will help.

Every time a weapon hits in the target zone you get that point.

You may do multiple runs at this but do not that the more you do the lower your score will be.

The math here is simple: (((Hit points in round 1 - Black area hit points in round 1) * weapon count multiplier) + (round 2 total)...) * round multiplier = final score.

Example:

I did this in one round and from what I could tell I my score is as follows

((32+6+20-0)*0.5)*2=58

You will most likely do better.

Good luck!

Can I get one rule clarification, I think it might be written backwards or I cannot read clear.

Should it be x2 if less than 4,

x1 if less than eight

Halved if more than eight?

Current way written on the map is a bit confusing. You have more that greater than eight is x1, and less than eight is 0.5 and greater than four is x2

Here...let's see if this works. Pulled it from the video.

So basically KSC is a big dart board, is that right?

I might have to give this challenge a go; it looks like fun. Might be more so because I really just started figuring out how planes worked this past week...

Can't really read the point values for the R&D buildings and the satellite receivers in the tracking station.

So my plane flies very well, my straight-tracking missiles worked wonderfully, and I got pretty accurate with my drop bombs. However, it is too darned hard to get a screenshot while flipping the view around and trying to pull up, plus a lot of the hits are after you're on the other side of the target. I could probably improve my score, but I am not going to try until I get FRAPs or something similar (at jeb's request).

56 points X 1 (weapons between 4 and 8) X 2 (one run) = 112 points.

Why does it have to be tweaked in some way? I have a lot of stock stuff that can do this, some modded stuff, none that are... tweaked? Maybe the modded stuff?

Also would this be a plane? I can turn on infinite fuel if that counts as tweaking.
