Lag! And lots of it!

I have a pretty decent computer. It has 6 Gigs of RAM, and can do pretty much anything I want it to. However, I have been building space stations lately, and my poor computer just can't take it. After 5 or 6 modules, the lag is too much. My question is this:

Is there any way to reduce the lag on my computer besides slowing down time in the game? I don't want launches, etc to take forever.

you could turn down the physics calculations in the settings menu. your graphics card may be too weak? turn down some graphics settings and see if that helps. also any ships within 2.2km of your space station will also be rendered so keep that in mind.

What is your CPU out of curiosity, if you have a AMD CPU you're going to have a laggy time.

Uninstall mods, they take up ram, making your game lag, turn down terrain detail and texture quality, and try not to use to many parts.

KSP can only use 4 gigs of RAM because of engine limitations. The only thing that really matters is your CPU. You will have to do research if you want to upgrade, but my game runs very, very smooth. Just keep in mind clock speed is not the only factor for the best CPU.
