I think its a rather great movie, though some areas and the ending could be worked on a little.

But still, Arendelle needs a space program.

This movie caught me completely off guard. The only trailer I'd seen of it was that goofy skit with Olaf and Sven that wasn't even a part of the movie. I saw it thinking the whole thing would be like that only to discover its the most true-to-form Disney musical since Beauty and the Beast. It was an excellent surprise.

It's not by Pixar. It's made by Disney animation studios. Pixar's been doing things like Brave and Monsters U these days.

I'm pretty sure there's no difference since Disney bought Pixar years ago.

There's absolutely a difference. Pixar was purchased by Disney but remains an entity unto itself distinct from Disney Animation Studios

It is true that them being under Disney's wing means they don't have the same degree of independence as they enjoyed previously. But that's aside from the point I was originally making, which is that Pixar wasn't involved in Frozen.

Reviving this thread, I watched it as soon as it was out for Dvd and really liked it.

It's an interesting story, a girl with ice powers...

All the new autonomously generated particle physics and clothing physics in this movie are fantastic! There is this scene where Anna is doing a show tune and dancing around and almost all of it her dress was moving naturally via new clothing collision algorithm, and you can just feel the animators made the scene just to show off their new algorithms, just like in the last movie where they were like “LOOK WHAT WE CAN DO WITH HAIR NOW!!!â€Â

Anyways its a fine film.

Now how many hours do they need to render a single frame? AFAIK in Transformers 3 in the giant snake thingy scene they took about 205 hours! per frame

I don't know but you have got to appropriate the time and computing power both human and machine that went into making a move like frozen.

I was thinking the same thing about the snow and ice. The wisps of snow flying around probably took particle effects to a new level. And the ice... refraction-ocalypse.
