Season 2 of our Kerbal Space Race Series pits the Plus One Space Program managed by Rich against the Kerasian Space Agency administered by JJ. In this season, we've implemented a scoring system that rewards a space program for achieving different accomplishments. Our first task is to earn 50 'Prestige Points'.

We are going to try and keep things as stock as possible.

The mods we are currently using:

TAC Part Lister v1.2

Kerbal Alarm Clock v2.7.0.0

And here's a link to our previous space race in case you missed it.

Prestige Mode Scoring System

Here's a spreadsheet with the full scoresheet.

For each celestial body, you can earn points for the following tasks:

  • Encounter - 1 pt.
  • Orbit - 2 pts.
  • Landing - 3 pts.
  • Land and Return - 4 pts.

Being the first program to accomplish these tasks doubles the points.

  • Duna, Eve, and Dres are worth double the amount of points.
  • Moho, Jool, and Eeloo are worth triple.

For Land and Return missions, there are also points awarded for cheapest mission, shortest mission time, and most Kerbins returned

There are two special accomplishments that can come into play:

  • "Hit the Bullseye" - 10 points
Be the first to hit the island at the center of the crater on Kerbin.
  • "Its for better cell phone service!" - 15 points
Be the first to put an object in geosynchronous orbit.

In episode 4, the Kerasian Space Agency experiences the miracle of resurrection as beloved Jebadiah returns from being 'Missing in Action'! Meanwhile, the Plus One Space Program attempts to be the first to put an object in geostationary orbit by putting fuel lines to good use. Worst of all, its revealed that Chief Administrator JJ of KSA has never seen Back to the Future.

POSP continues their attempt to put a satellite into geostationary orbit. KSP tests out their new rocket design. Both experience design flaws. Thankfully, no Kerbals were seriously hurt during the video!

Episode 6 has arrived! POSP finally irons out their power problems and accomplishes its goal of enhancing cell phone service to Kerbin. KSP's new rocket, Kerpernicus Mk.5, sets a record for distance but just can't get close enough to determine if the Mun is indeed made of cheese.

With most of the first encounters and orbits complete, all scoring now requires a landing or a long distance trek to Duna and beyond. Both programs begin designing ships for that purpose, but only one gets very far...
