Here is a tutorial on how to build heavy lift rockets.

The first video is how to test the lift capabilities of the mainsail. This gives us some data to start with.

This video may be slightly boring, but shows you how to get an idea of the capabilities of any engine including the ones with the 23.5 update.

The second video which i will upload shortly (currently being encoded) shows a heavy lift platform lifting a heavy 'explorer' class ship into orbit (at-least mostly into orbit). Will post shortly.

An hour's worth of video would kill my broadband budget. Any chance of a write-up of the salient points?

I guess i'm used to unlimited bandwidth, but when you load the youtube video you can choose to reduce the video resolution thus reducing the bandwidth...

For quick summary, watch the first 5 mins of the first vide to see how the tests are done... then watch the first bit of the second video up to the first couple of mins of the launch.
