    • A) Low, Medium, High cloud layers (Heavy/Realistic)
    • B) Detail bias towards Land/Atmosphere visuals
    • B) Detail bias towards Orbit/Space visuals

Alright I made it to Venus to scope out the atmosphere there and here is what I found:

There is a strangeness that doesn't render the atmoshpere directly under your ship and you can see through to the surface from the daylight side. This area is bigger the lower your altitude is

~600K

~1M

This was not the entire atmosphere, just parts of it with very distinct cutoff points.

But when it renders, it looks just great!

where and how do i download this? :D

The mod is a work in progress, ATM. Pete made the executive decision to remove all downloads until the mod is stable enough for a release. It's currently my most anticipated mod and what I've been waiting for since I've heard about RSS; I'm fine with waiting for a great final product! :)

Cheers, I just chucked a vaguely delta looking rocket together for some testing :P

I'm pretty sure this should all be available on gitHub, didn't really make any significant changes when these were taken, and as far as I can remember I haven't since I last merged :)

EDIT: Just re-merged to make sure, found some very minor atmosphere tweaks should be fully up to date now

Sorry! I was looking for an update to the tiling issue! :P

I fixed the tiling issue mostly with the new cloud detail texture, there is still however mirroring at the seems globally, this sin't something I can resolve without a fix from rbray unfortunately

So I tried RVE, the newest version, and I kept getting out of memory errors when I came to the menu screen and RSS was wrapping everything.

Then I made a new install, with a truncated Squad folder, ATM, and installed exactly how the readme specified. This time it ran out of memory by the time it wrapped Laythe if I remember correctly.

Then I truncated the RSS textures folder to only include dds files for Earth, the Moon, and Mars. But when I started a save file, the Space Center was gone and the debug was being spammed with null reference exceptions.

I know this is still in development, but I'm curious how you got this to run at all, pingo. It looks fantastic, and I'd really like to try it out.

try cutting parts u dont use. also u can lower the reso of the textures manualy that save alot of memory

cut MORE parts?? I'm running only on a tankless Squad folder. I think I have plenty of memory available, it's just that something else is going horribly wrong. I booted up one of the scenarios the game came with, and it seems that from the empty space center, the clouds are visible, but from space they aren't. Also, when I started re-entering the atmosphere, it seemed like it was 100% percent grey clouds.

What is your total ram count in your system?

In my opinion, all that really needs to be perfected is the horizon haze from orbit. Everything else is great :D.

Oh yeah well there's a number of things I'd like to get sorted, and that's one I've mentioned to rbray :)

Looking closer and closer like my desktop pete. Awesome work.

Ha thankyou that's actually one I've been using for comparison during testing :D

total ram count in system is 16gb, KSP uses 2.3gb once loaded.

with RVE and all its dependencies installed, menu looks like this:

and closeup of planet looks like this:

That's weird, you're not on MAC by any chance are you? (they can't handle 8k's) Try running with opengl, that's what I've been using, but even without, DDS textures should make most textures accessible to the majority of users as far as I've been able to tell. What graphics card are you using out of interest-DDS loader loads all DDS textures straight to the GPU. That last pic looks more like something to do with fade distance?

No, I'm on a custom built desktop PC, with a fresh install of Windows 7. Graphics card is AMD Radeon HD 6800 series. Maybe I'm running out of memory on my GPU?

Incidentally, after I returned to menu before crashing in the pic above, I was able to get into a save, and the Space Center was there! but the ground was all wonky, and it looked like the Earth was covered by one big ultra-thick cloud layer. Looked like this in the map

I was having this exact same problem with the previous test version. Turned out, removing the BoulderCo folder did the trick.

try boooting up the game when u get to the start menu open up the alt f12 menu and check the debug menu then go into a sandbox. u might be haveing a error spaming filling your ram.

I..you..but...That's all it took?!

So relieved that it's working now, my brain was about to become scrambled eggs. Anyways, let me be the first to say this: damn

Though it's visible that it is very much a work in progress, looks a bit odd from map view, weird lighting when approaching the terminator, I'm sure there are others. Nevertheless, I am stunned at how amazing this is.
