Various company logos

Here's a small collection of various company logos I've made for non-stock manufacturers, agencies and organizations - I've also included a brief description, which may contain some of my personal fanon for KSP.

I will be updating this first post on an irregular basis, so do check back often :)

Sum Dum Heavy Industries Co., Ltd

sum_dum_heavy_industries___company_logo_for_ksp_by_sumghai-d7q6h5k.png

A heavy engineering firm based in the Honko Co-prosperity Union, specializing in aerospace engineering, mass transit systems, shipbuilding, industrial and agricultural machinery, as well as one of the core companies of the multinational Sum Dum conglomerate. One of its most notable achievements was winning the contract to develop and manufacture the Service Module of the Kerbal Space Administration's next-generation crewed spacecraft, the Kerbal Exploration System Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (KES-MPCV), in KY 506.

Inspired by the real-life Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

FusTek Aerospace

A small aerospace company from the Confederate States, famed for its FusTek Dragonfly low-speed observation aircraft, and recently selected in KY 508 as the prime contractor for the Kerbal Space Administration's second-generation orbital space station project. SDHI owns a controlling stake in the company.

I originally made this logo for Alex "fusty" Sterling, who later gave me permission to maintain and continue the FusTek Karmony-series space station modules pack.

DMagic Orbital Sciences

A manufacturer of a large variety of space-based scientific instruments and experiments.

Inspired by the real-life Orbital Sciences Corporation.

Winters-Mading Institute of Theoretical Sciences (DEFUNCT)

winters_mading____defunct__think_tank_logo_for_ksp_by_sumghai-d7q6ipd.png

Once Kerbin's most prestigious scientific research institution and government think tank, with interests ranging from agriculture and resource extraction through to medicine and particle physics. The organization was credited as being responsible for transforming the Confederate States into a political, economic and technological superpower, with many illustrious alumni such as Keinsberg national Dr. Wernher von. Kerman, a then-junior aeronautics scientist and the future Kerbal Space Administration's Chief of Research and Development.

In its latter years, however, the organization was marred by controversy, such as subjecting personnel to weekly polygraph testing, stipulating all male employees to maintain varying moustache styles according to what position they held in any given research groups' organizational hierarchy, and the much-publicized dismissal of Dr. von. Kerman himself for making quick calculations on a paper napkin instead of official WM stationery.

The institute was destroyed in a mysterious fire in KY 497, killing its entire research and administrative staff. Both the Confederate States and its successor Kerbal Federation government have persistently discouraged independent investigation of the fire, leading to conspiracy theories ranging from arson by disgruntled ex-employees, military sabotage by then-rival powers through to a science experiment gone wrong.

Bahamuto Dynamics

A manufacturer of aerospace and defense systems.

NovaPunch LLC

One of Kerbin's largest spaceflight and rocketry companies rivaling that of the Rockomax conglomerate, NovaPunch was born from a merger of Tiberdyne Aerospace, SlugCo Incoporated, Silisko Industries and Wobbly Rockets, Inc.

Kerbarer KmbH

A family-owned business based in Keinsberg, specializing in gauges, sensors and data acquisition systems for a variety of applications. Kerbarer has over 60% of the vacuum pressure gauge market on Kerbin.

(Note: Strictly speaking this company is not meant to be an in-game agency - they just make little pressure gauges that other companies incorporate into their own products)

Wenkel Corporation

Originally founded by Wenkel Kerman in KY 450 to commercialize his vapor-compression refrigeration units for domestic use, the company now develops and manufactures air conditioning and thermal control systems for the aerospace industry. More recently, it has entered the spacecraft recovery systems market through innovative new products by its subsidiary, RealChute Aerodynamic Deacceleration Recovery Systems.

A division of Wenkel Corporation, RealChutes was the result of an Industry-Government-Academia Joint Research project undertaken in conjunction with the Kerbal Space Administration (KSA) and the University of Kerbin to develop improved spacecraft recovery systems.

Pre-emptive Q&A

Quote
Q: What graphics application/software did you use to make these logos?

A: I use Inkscape, as it is a free vector art program that gives me very precise control over shapes and text.

Q: Do you accept paid/unpaid commissions? Can you make me a logo?

A: On a case-by-case basis, depending on how much you company's work interests me.

Q: Did you take part in the official logo contest?

A: No - I had no interest in it.

Q: Why don't your logos look as cool as XYZ company's logo / the official KSP agency logos?

A: I have a certain art style and design philosophy - specifically, logos that fit the company's products/character, and are easy to produce in as few colors as possible to permit stenciling / stamping on products (hence no wacko color gradients / photorealistic effects). Really, coolness is subjective, and I am simply interested in making brands easily identifiable.

Q: Is it true you love bacon?

A: With eggs over medium :)

Cool looking stuff! I don't suppose I could contract you to develop a logo for this part company, could you? Sauron (the guy behind part concepts) wants to subtly pay homage to the one-eyed tower dude. :P
I'll think about it.
Ohh! Yes please!

I was thinking of everyone's flaming eye being shot out of a rocket engine as exhaust :P

After some consideration, I've concluded that I am not able to create a suitable company logo for One Eyed Industries - I personally felt that an overt The Lord of the Rings reference was too much of a stretch for an aerospace company.

I have on certain occasions made alternative branding suggestions, but in this case nothing good came to mind.

That's alright, I could use texturing practice anyway. Thanks for the consideration at least!
