sub orbital trajectory?

I need to be in a "sub orbital trajectory" with an altitude of 80,000 to 82,900. above kerbin. I'm in an orbit that is in between those ranges but the "sub orbital trajectory" is not ticked of so I can't test my part yet? What exactly does sub orbital trajectory mean?

A sub-orbital flight is one that doesn't go in to orbit. What you need is a launch that has an apoapsis between the two altitudes you list, to meet the requirement of the mission, and which then comes back down to Kerbin.

Or you later circularize it. For instance, make the usual ascend with an Ap of 83 km. Once you're at 80 km, do the test. Then bring your Pe to 83km and continue doing whatever you where doing
