Vagani Car Manufacturers- Get Inspired- Final Challenge

Mine would have been done now, if it wasn't for Mr. Wheel.

He pops up and down at 3x warp and above, which causes no loss of control or lack of stability, but is rather annoying. When I'm trying to create a very realistic craft, it's a little bothersome if one of the wheels merrily pops up and down, with utter disregard for anyone or anything in the world. I'm thinking I should just let Mr. Wheel do as he wishes, because I can't find any other way around it.

Are the Events testing for stuff like crash tolerance and off road performance? If so, can I remove my original craft from the competition and enter a whole new one in its place?

Sure, and yes it will be stuff like that

When HOCgaming performed his first polar expedition he called his vehicle a buggy. Aaa ... what?

I instantly had the feeling that i have to build a kerbalized version of a dune buggy out of the 70's (they were build on a VW-beetle chassis) and beat his time or distance. Witch was easy, because his design was too heavy and too high --> many repair stops and/or quickloads.

My car looks like - well - a mix in between of a dune-buggy and a Schlesser-buggy (Rally Paris-Dakar). In this later on version of the car there are a few things (e.g. 8 batteries) witch are not that nessecary but put in to increase the weight - with less succsess that hoped --> The suspension still changes it's state when you drive on an new polygon in the landscape.

costs 73,633.00 Kerbal dollar

parts 98

top speed 22 m/s

weight 4.03 t

This is not a contender,

because i will not create an account on any video platform. But feel free to take this design if you like it.

Imgur is working again, good.

Vagani, i haven't added the F3-screen, because if you put your Kerbals into the car per EVA there is always a new flight events log for that vehicle. Therefore the included return trip - look at the MET on the final screenshot.

Hello Vagani,

i have already landed at Kerbin. But there are screenshots - witch i didn't use left - some added to the album:

  • The first picture is topspeed (but in the real attempt was travelling only 12 m/s max for safety reasons).
  • Real topspeed in the F3-screen
  • Airborne. As you can see, at really low speed.
  • And yes, an interresting picture?
    • maybe boarding the rover
    • or Kerbin the the picture before the trip (without Kerbal)
    • or the sun behind the rover on the way back to the lander (without Kerbal in the picture)
    • or the glance back to the landing zone on the cliff in the original submitted pictures. Only that the lander is too far away (LOD-algorithm) to be displayed by KSP.

If you think that this isn't good enough, inform me please. Then i have to do the hole thing again.

Have included the advertising picture to the album (last picture).

Good looking car, perhaps just take screenshots to prove that you have done it, maybe one of the results screen and another of the car to show it didn't explode

And what about me, was my entry accepted? :] (page 4)

...well i don't really mind, since my vehicle isn't the most capable - not very good at surviving falls/climbing steep hills(despite what it looks like)...xD

I could change the wheels, but that would completely ruin the look i wanted.

Ok, i will give it a try, i guess. I could install PersistantTrails, witch would not change the enviroment, but allowing to judge if i have followed a given path.

I hope that there are not so many pictures nessecary, because i have only an free account for imgur.

BTW: One game in your list is missing, KSP!

You could setup a server for DarkMultiPlayer on your own PC. With that you can have fun with everyone who is under the first three at the same time. I would like to see with what ideas you come up with.

For a first impression of that mod you can look at e.g.

Hey Vagani, wondering did you accept the tank into your competition?

Thinking i went a bit over the top on it.

So far everybody's has been accepted, looking good folks.

Well I obviously have KSP but yes I'll add it, i suppose the darkmultiplayer could be done, ill look into it.

Can I change what craft I enter? If so can I enter this instead.

IjIslM1.png

It has 127 parts weighs 6.59 tonnes and has a top speed of 21.5m/s. Thanks I think it looks better than my last entry and does not explode so much.

Official Video for the Kerbswagen Pillbug is up! Still waiting on the craft file, as timewarping up and down causes Bad Things to happen. I'm going to make the official post releasing the craft file in about a day. What hype!

Here's the video, showcasing a bunch of the car's features. Top speed is up to 23 m/s, due to a different distribution of mass and Four-Wheel-Drive toggle (uses the "4" action group, how appropriate). 11+ m/s crash tolerance, as seen at the end of the video. Good control at 2x warp and above, with epic drifting possible at 3x warp and above. Still really cute.

I'm not sure this one will win, but I hope you have fun with it, Vagani. I'm relatively new to car-building, so it might not have all of the kinks worked out of it, but it's still got a good "look" and is exciting to drive. In my book, that's worth a good deal. :)
