KC-1 Slug

Role - Multi-purpose low altitude, medium range cargo vessel.

Engines - General Electric CF34 turbofan x4

Cruising speed - 300m/s (1)

Altitude - 3-5km (10km)

Crew - 1 Pilot, 3 Passengers

Weight - 27,306

Description: The KC-1 was born from an odd contract requiring the use of a RAPIER engine at an extremely high altitude but very low speed. After being unable to accomplish this feat, and under pressure to recoup the lost funding, the engineers decided to find another use for the airframe. The RAPIER engine was stripped out and it's fuel tank converted into a cargo hold making it perfect for crew transport, parachute training and low altitude observation. The CF34 turbofan engines provide high fuel efficiency and when coupled with two 2,925kg tanks, the Slug has an expected operational distance of 2,140km. Loitering the 1 and 4 engines can probably increase this further. The Slug is also designed to be self-sustaining and does not require the use of support equipment, making it a versatile part of the KSI squadron.
