serious problems with the game

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

i bought that game a few days ago and wasn't really able to play it at all. Now i have a couple of hours to report some of those issues. But before i do, i wanna write down my system setup.

CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K 4x 3.50GHz So.1150 BOX

GPU: 4096MB Inno3D GeForce GTX 770

RAM: 8GB (2x 4096MB) Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1866 DIMM CL9-10-9-27

MAIN: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Intel Z87

SYSTEM: WINDOWS 8.1, 64 BIT

ALL DRIVERS ARE UP TO DATE

So basically, i bought this game on STEAM. After downloading, it started in a small window, so i went to the settings and put everything on "high" or "fantastic", since my setup is quite good. Result: Game crashed.

Well, i thought i can restart, but now it started to crash while loading. So I restarted my computer, updated everything and it still doesnt work. Obviously, it's some RAM problem which i don't understand. Anyway, i deleted the game and re-installed it again via STEAM. Again it opened in a small window. I started a new game and it crashed. Then i restarted, went to settings and put everything on LOW (come oooon!). After this, my game kinda worked. I went to the rocket-building place and started to build my very first rocket ever, but my Keyboard didnt work there. I couldnt use W,A,S,D,Q,E to rotate stuff, but whatever, it wasnt actually necessary for my first rocket, so i went to the launchpad and clicked spacebar to start. Nothing happens. i right click on the engine, activate it and my rocket starts flying. I would like to have it go a little faster so i press shift to throttle up. Nothing happens... i think something is broken. Hope i could get some help, cause everyone is already having fun playing this game :/

Find your settings.cfg file in the KSP directory and delete it. Relaunch KSP and do all your graphics change with one exception. Leave the texture quality at half and see if that helps.

If it's still crashing, please see this thread for how to post log files.

Hi Claw, thanks for the response. I did what you said, the game crashed without any error-window-thingy. It just closed for no reason. I attached the error.log and the ouput_log.txt

Obviously there is a lot of free memory available, but just nothing left for the paging file.

Well, there's a few weird things in your log...

MessageSystem: Cannot load messages - MESSAGESYSTEM node does not exist
<RI> Failed to register devices:
<RI> Input initialization failed.
The referenced script on this Behaviour is missing!
**** Crash! ****

It looks like Steam has not downloaded KSP correctly, please right click KSP in the Steam client and access its properties, from there you can click the local files tab and verify the file cache.

It should find missing files and download them for you.

What do you mean with "weird"?

I just started the game after doing what sal_vager told me. Same thing happens: I manage to load the game, but when i try to start a new game, it crashes. So sad that i still cant play it :/

is it my computer or is it the game?

That's what we're trying to figure out Michael, the log seemed to suggest an incomplete install, maybe your newest log will say otherwise, KSP writes a new log with each launch.

I don't know if it's the game, if it was more people would have the same issue as yourself, but if it's your system we need to work out why.

Usually the game won't run due to old graphics drivers or some other software installed that is messing with the system, like your anti-virus, and KSP needs to be whitelisted.

Sometimes it's an actual virus on a players PC.

Please upload your most recent output log for us, thank you.

Basically, i downloaded the game more than one time from steam. Right now i am doing it again, just to make sure. When i am done you will find a new logfile under the same link. Thank you guys :)

edit: I deactivate my antivirus for the time i start the game, just to make sure it doesnt interfere. There are no more updates for my graphicscard, so i must have the newest drivers.

edit2: OMG I CAN PLAY IT! It was my antivirus. I feel ashamed.
