Maneuver nodes in career mode?

I'm trying the career mode at the moment and I'm confused with the maneuver node availability. I've upgraded the tracking station to level 2 (allow for patched conics in the description). On the orbital map, my trajectories are now blue (they were grey before), but I cannot create a maneuver node. Are there other requirements to be able to create one besides upgrading the tracking station? My pilot has 1 star if that matter.

I believe you need to to upgrade mission control to level 2 in addition to the tracking station.

Yup. It's a little non-obvious: Mission Control for manoeuvre nodes, Tracking Station for patched conics.
