Memories of the old Moho.

Who renembers that?

That reddish brown planet with ultra hot atmosphere which makes even your RCS engines to overheat and explode.

I renember having Jebediah land there, and he got stuck, rescue mission failed, I still have him stuck there in my 0.17 install.

What do you renember about that?

(People that haven't seen that Moho, please imagine how hard was to land there and make up a story)

Do we not have these heat issues with the planet anymore? I was looking forward to SQUAD putting in some environmental effects ( dust storms, acidic atmospheres and lakes, active volcanoes! Geysers! ) . I never went there sadly. If I did I'm sure Jeb would have taken some bacon and cooked it on the melting hull of his pod.

There are mods that add wind and EVE can add dust storms and snow. I agree that stock really needs this but it may come only after the changes to the aerodynamics are implemented, i.e. in the FAR future or never.

Although Moho no longer has that superheated atmosphere, or any atmosphere at all as of v0.90.0, I believe the devs have stated they wish to reimplement that effect but on a new planet, with an orbit lying closer to the Sun than Moho. Unfortunately I cannot find a source for this, nor does SQUAD have any obligation to implement it, sorry guys.

Thanks for reading, though. :D

IIRC in an older thread NovaSilisko was saying that there were (or is?) plans for at least one more gas giant as well- Jool was to be the smaller one with the more interesting moons. Also, Eeloo was to be a moon of this bigger giant. (though honestly I prefer it as a trans-Joolian object/"Eelootino")

Eeloo is not a planet. It's a Cuiper Belt object.

Hi. I have never been to the old Moho. Here's my totally not fake story.

I was piloting a satellite so that it would get into a very low Kerbol orbit. Suddenly, Moho encounter! I wasn't going to hit the surface, so I didn't mind, but then, my satellite overheated and died. ;.;

I will always remember Hot!Moho for an infamous Scott Manley line in his first video showcasing it: "Well, it WAS going really well until it exploded." That line sums up most failed KSP missions quite well, and applied especially well to attempts to land on Moho prior to the heat being removed.

I miss the old Moho. The new one (I saw new, it was changed in version 0.18!) is hardly unique now, even if it is easier to land on! I only ever landed there once properly using RCS which took many attempts but I then sent another probe there and, just to see if I could, I altered the parachutes config files to make the parachutes WAY too powerful and just about managed a parachute landing. :P Obviously that last one was just for fun.

I remember the 'chutes never worked for me...

They probably would have blown up if they did.

I really like the new Moho, I need to find a place there sunlight never touches the surface, and build a base there...

First part would be to add Mun procedural terrain to other worlds.

Pretty much. Of course not just craters, although those are the ones which are obviously missing from (mostly) airless rocks. Duna and Laythe could also have dunes (Laythe has some now but they're too big), cryogeysers for Vall/Eeloo, puddle/pools of liquid, lava flow for Eve/Laythe. Surfaces with different driving characteristics, sand versus rock versus ice.

Also there was talk of a procedural skybox at one point.

Somehow, I didn't keep hold of my copy of 0.17, and I never got to visit Moho back then. A shame, really, as the heat was the only instance of some sort of environmental effects aside from atmospheric pressure and gravity.

The terrain stuff is my number one want for the game. Endless hills get really boring after a while. Duna also needs to get its flat regions back, because they're filled with hills, as are it's canyons and valleys...

Duna is just one big cluster-f*** of hills.

People always seem to forget volcanism on Kerbin, though. A few shields, composites, cinder cones and calderas dotted around would be awesome, especially with some lava (not necessarily flowing, but if that is possible, then bring it on :)) that could potentially be... interacted with. For science.

As for the skybox it would be nice to see a new one in place of this blurry mess, but given that I'm using my own, it would have to be a damn good skybox to make me consider replacing mine.
