Question about updating

So I had purchased the game from steam a while back. When the new updates are available, will it automatically update, or will I need to do anything else to get the updates?

Yes, it will automatically update like other steam games.

Unless you decide, through the games settings (through steam) that you don't want to update. This is usually a good idea to go about this way. When the game update, not every mods you consider essential might be ready for the jumps. I usually stick around with the next-to-new version of the game for a week.

I usually copy the hole game folder out of the steam tree and launch from a link on my desktop. The steam application takes away precious gaming resources and I do not really need to know, how much time went into gaming.

I then tell steam to delete KSP and as soon as the forums are boiling from "RELEASED" threads, I let steam download a fresh and clean copy of the new version.

Copying the game to a new location and running it from there is recommended since updates can break saves from missions in progress.

As far as Steam updating, it will automatically do a clean update when it is available. No need to delete anything there.
