I've tried that as well, once with backup files and once without.

So I have had a problem with trying to start KSP. I haven't touched the game for about 5 months now and I want to start playing it again. I'm on a mac (10.16.11) and I've tried to delete the save state (the unity.Squad.Kerbal Space Program.savedState) and delete any mods I may have but it still crashes on startup (when the loading bar reaches halfway). This is the crash report that comes up (sorry it's a bit long):
