Araym's
Kerbal Administration of Space Adventures

It's ages (probably from KSP 0.16) that I'm playing, deleting, restarting gameplays after gameplays, but I almost never kept track of any of my "results".

So, like any, bold, space exploration agency's administrator, it's time to have some records officially put out of my "Secret Files"...

*The "Sandbox Simulator" missions*

Mission 1- The Mir Space Station replay (last mission in KSP 0.90):

1-Mir DOS-7 Core module

2-Soyuz T-15 + bunus stage

3-Kvant-1 delivering to MIR

4-*Bonus stage 2* Kolumbus Space Shuttle STS-2 mission - like the real Columbia's STS-2 mission, the first Canadarm tested in space -

5-Uprating the DOS-7 Solar Panels

6-Kvant-2 dock to MIR

7-Kristall module

8-Resupply, EVA tests and starting building Sofora Mast

9-Sofora Mast completed on EVA

10-Shuttle-MIR Programme: STS-63 and Soyuz TM-16

11-Kristall's solar array moved - Kristall module reposition

12-Spektr module

13-Shuttle-MIR Programme: STS-71

Mission 2- The Space Shuttle (KSP 1.0.4)

STS-1 Mission: STS-K10 Olympus unmanned flight test

Mission 3- The ISS Replica (KSP 1.1.3)

Why to build an ISS replica just to look at it? - 26/10/2016 update -

*The "Real Deal" Career Missions (KSP 1.0.5)

STARTED (and stopped once 1.0.5 was outdated) IN A "COMIC" VERSION!!!

MIR in space - Feb. 19, 1986

We should start somewhere: in the latest days I left my career a bit aside (probably waiting KSP 1.0 release), so I'm using my time to create some replicas.

After a couple of jets (because I'm not playing Kerbal space program only to launch rockets), and thanks to DDS Loader (ALWAYS an HUGE "THANK YOU" to Sarbian) I managed to squeeze in my very low spec laptop some more mods.

I started with Tantares and Tantares Launch Vehicles, then added Infernal Robotics, then KAS, then TweakScale... then I HAD to use them for something...

... and NOTHING is better than starting with a Space Station...

... because there are a lot of Mir, but this is MINE :D

2-: First manned mission

Starting to build a MIR, it's a necessity to have some Kosmonauts up there to watch and care my creature...

... so directly from my latest career mode (I copy-pasted my whole team from there, 'cuz I'm emotionally attached to them) two of the most iconic and brave Kerbals voluteered for that task.

Let's leave my comments for the "official broadcast" from K.A.S.A's KSP Center:

http://imgur.com/a/Ssk8p

As programmed (how rare, isn't it? :P) we have now the DOS-7 Core Module plus a manned Soyuz-T in space: time to go back on the game to build up a Progress, to refuel the complex, and then the first, main addition to the Station (no spoilers here, but I'm sure you know about what it will be :P)

3-: Kvant-1 Module

Our might heroes, Jeb and Bill, are so enjoing their share of snacks and void...

... but here at K.A.S.A. we are not sleeping: the next step is ready to roll out from the VAB.

So little to tell you rather than connect directly to the mission broadcast:

*Bonus stage 2* Testing the Shuttle's Docking Module

As programming a (almost) real-life rehearsal of MIR construction, I ran in the problem to add the Docking Module used by the Space Shuttle in the same way it went in space...

... so, having all the project related MIR ready in the VAB, I had to find 1- a working Shuttle... 2- A way to translate the DM from Shuttle's bay to its own docking node, prior to dock on the MIR...

So, to not spoil the real DM, a simpler mock up of the DM was prepared for the training mission...

... but it left the unanswered the previous "mission objectives".

Thankfully, the great Inigma already answered months ago the n.°1 question (the working Shuttle), thanks to his Space Shuttle replica (yes: this is not a my creation... I was working on something similar with mk.3 parts, but that is GORGEOUS and I loved it at first sight).

Our engineers so just made a couple, little changes, as new parts were available from our Research Team (a.k.a KSP forum's "Add-on Releases" section, as I'm not playing strictly stock :P) even not ruining the great, main, structure of Inigma's one.

... sadly, even if Inigma's made a Service Module with an Infernal Robotic's arm, K.A.S.A. engineers found it lacking of the necessary control to handle the required mission parameters (turn a module back up to the back of the nose cabin).

Werner Von Kerbal was not so worried: a couple of days on drawing board, and a new K.A.S.A. Kanadarm was born!

STS-2 mission to test the new robotic arm is a full success!

4-: EVA 1 - Upgrading Solar Panels

Days passed up in space at MIR:

after debriefing the previous STS-2 mission, KASA Shuttle shows room of improvements for future missions (OOT: ... a discussion started on Inigma's STS-4 main post, to improve it, with me going to be a part of it, so I lost a lot of time to design a different looking one) and MIR activities were put on hold for a bit.

It was not a problem, not surelly for Jeb (too busy, pillaging food reserves), and letting Bill to better understand the basic interation of the space station systems...

... but after the time spent elsewhere, the day for resuming activities on the Mir, finally, came, to upgrade the energy output from DOS-7 Core, to power up nicely the new added KVANT-1:

^_^

Thanks, Columbia.

As KSP 1.0 is going to be released in a matter of days, I'll try to end the whole assembly in this week-end, as a last mission for 0.90 (... dunno if the whole group of mods i'm using will be available very soon, to end it in 1.0...)

6-: Kristall module

As soon Jeb and Bill returned to Kerbin, it was time, as planned after the initial station crew, to send someone capable to put use as scientist of the new assembly: Bob was obviously selected. Together to our K.A.S.A. leader scientist, it was selected one of our best recruit, as engineer, to take care of further development of the MIR complex:

After the new couple of kosmonauts took their seat on board, a new addition was ready to be sent on orbit:

7-: Orbital activities

To prepare the MIR space station for the next upgrades, a series of Progress launch were scheduled:

http://imgur.com/a/AI8k6

The first task, after the Progress docked, was a new boost for the complex to a more circular orbit:

http://imgur.com/a/3TDmt

Then, Kenlan started a series of EVA activities: first to test the SPK mobility unit, then to start to build the Sofora Mast...

8-: Another Progress, Sofora Thruster Pack and Rapana Mast

Depleted the already docked Progress supplies, it was sent to deorbit and crash on Kerbin.

Another one was ready just after that:

Then, as the Progress resupply ship docked, Kenlan went EVA to add the Thruster Pack on top of the Sofora Mast, and also to add the Rapana Mast:

9-: Beginning the Shuttle-MIR programme: STS-63 rendevouz

As soon the MIR station was in development, someone at the Manager Office thought about a possible development to use together the station and the Space Shuttle fleet.

So it was time to organize a rendevouz to figure future mission plans:

STS-63 and MIR rendevouz - Feb. 6, 1995

Then, to assure docking compatibilities, and before to risk a real Space Shuttle, a new Soyuz mission, TM-16 was sent to MIR with a modified APAS docking port, different from the standard "probe and drogue" usually used on the spacecraft, to check Kristall docking ones:

At KASA's mission planning we tried to achieve all the programmed step for the MIR-Shuttle program, but a major overhaul of the space program was already planned, so, at least, we wanted to hit still a mid-term milestone:

STS-1 Mission: STS-K10 Olympus unmanned flight test

It's been a while for a real mission involving something that could be count as a "replica" like the previous done MIR...

... this time I returned to a guest already shown on the MIR section: the Space Shuttle.

KSP 1.0.4 make things different, but also some new, shining, things to be added on my own version of the game:

the best ones are some parts from Mk2 Expansion Pack and (WIP) Mk3 Expansion Pack by SuicidalInsanity.

That leads to my new "Olympus" Space Shuttle, tested here to prove its maximum payload capability: the old, same, 42t fuel pod payload as Inigma's STS-7 Shuttles.

Rather than the old K-series SpaceShuttles (and even if sporting almost the same part arrangements), the K-10 version is the FIRST totally built from scratches, to overcome some "exploding heating issues" shown from adapting any Inigma's designs.

It also served to me to refine some engineering capabilities for future plans to develope new space vehicles.

I end always a to use the "previous KSP version" (in this days I'm transitioning from 1.1.3 to 1.2) to run some project that never had space in the actual career gameplay.
This time was the ISS turn!!!!

9VbtuPn.jpg

... and obviously, leaving yesterday my International Kerbal Space Station in orbit lead me there today too: I didn't settle "her" just to do nothing.

She was happy and quiet...
... all alone but safe...

JwKg0Zc.jpg

... with all her labs happy and builded...

cXQRr1a.jpg

... it was in full sunbath, but also fresh and cooled...

... and then...

...

... THE MENACE!!!!

A shuttle was sent to BOARD "her"!!!

lIvfL3V.jpg

4CBHLgV.jpg

... "biiip-biiip-biiip!"

Nope: it's not the sound of some signals sent by my Station in search of any help. It's just the sound alert of the Shuttle going backwards (... or upward, as it was going to dock with the dorsal???? Who cares: FIRST, there is "up" or "down" in Space! SECOND, I was controlling by the docking port, so I had a different point of view :P

kyFFn8a.jpg7Kmlp7M.jpg

I'd like to commit myself in manual guided-strument assisted IVA docking procedure, having Raster Prop. <--- story to seem koooool>

... but in reality I just discovered how is difficoult to use RCS translation on an unbalanced vehicle like a Shuttle Orbiter U_U Mechjeb failed to keep it stable, so only using the game SAS, to spare monoprop (the shuttle itself has left 100-120 Dv in it's tank, barelly enough to deorbit), I had the idea to use the built in docking camera from RPM as reference to do not crash and aim my docking procedure:

EVAs!!!

I didn't travelled up to there, with some kerbals, if not to "swim" around her!

DagFCZZ.jpg9BUhYIc.jpg

Happy and sound, I recovered the poor Engineer Kerbalnaut back in the station, then (he was in reality on service duties, repairing some little fuel tank leaks... dang on DANG-IT! mod, always liking to fracture monoprop tanks)

Then I liked to add more, classy, images, for eventually desktop use: a station, a shuttle, a sun in background... :P
