Adding craft in orbit to main menu screen

Recommended Posts

Copy pasting this suggestion from the ksp subreddit:

I think it'd be pretty dope if at the loading screen with the tree kerbals floating if you could specify a craft to put there along with it. It could be a ULTRA-MEGA-SUPER-DUPER-SPACE-STATION or just anything. I think it'd be super cool. It'd add a touch of "hey, kerbal is cool". What if you could select multiple craft files to slowly go by. If they were animated to do some things like for example: If it had antenna, toggle them. If it had RCS thrusters, occasionaly fire them. I think it'd add a touch of personality to the game.

What do you guys think?

This sounds cool but it goes against the whole idea of a loading screen. The loading screen is to allow time for the game to load all the parts and plugins installed in the Game Data folder. If you want your craft to appear and be animated on the loading screen, you'd have to load all the parts and animations first, at which point the game is already loaded and you can start playing.

So yeah, can't really see this being practical.

Hello Coronna 688,

I know, they wouldn't be bobbing up and down if they were :)

I'm just saying that adding a player's model behind them in orbit such as a space station they have built would be a nice (fairly easily implementable) addition that would really make the game personal to the player.
