Problem with Asset Bundle Definition

I am running ksp on Mac OS 10.12.4.  When I try to start the game I go to the loading screen where the bar displays "Loading Asset Bundle Definitions" but it never progresses past this no matter how long I let it sit.  I have had this behavior with every version after 1.1.2.
