KSP Headline

Developement updates are back and information is starting to come in. The media group starts a space race and begins to hammer out the specifics of the rules, regulations and requirements. Mod makers are getting more creative and some new ones you'll want to check out are included in this article. Pleborian makes an appearance in today's weekly article with his personal spin on the community with his column 'Through The Telescope'.

Updates

In a recent post that can be seen on Harvester's Dev Blag the way flights are handled, rather, more specifically the way they are being ended is undergoing an overhaul. The reason for this and a quote taken from the blog states; "The old system was a placeholder. We added it back in 0.14, not because there was a very good idea for it, but because we needed to have something back then, and that's what we ended up with."
As seen in the screenshot down below it seems relatively straightforward when you lay it down, however, i realise this will be an interesting design challenge. What excited me most about this screenshot was the hinting at the possibility of adding 'difficulty' by disallowing the relaunch of vessels. For more information head on over to Harvester's Dev Blag.

YouTube Spotlight

So an idea sprouted from videos created by myself and White Owl. We made similar videos unbenounced to the other and they were posted mere hours apart after weeks of planning and days of recording. What this turned into was an official space race. The Solar Gamer joined in later that day after expressing interest. This isn't any old space race, but a carefully planned and regulated series in which each person is allowed to create their videos on their own time and work freely, however, at set points there will be technological advances and government interventions to balance the series in order to keep it both a close race, and entertaining for the viewers. There are several requirements and this is a more hard mode style setup. This space race requires FAR, Deadly Reentry and Mission Controller. Tune into everyones perspective as not one video will be the same. Here is a taste of what is to come! Unfortunetly Ryan the Solar Gamer's video was not ready when the article was written so check out his channel and keep an eye out for it.

Modding Spotlight 1

The Extraplanetary Launchpads is a mod currently making quite a bit of noise amongst the community and KSP Media Group members. A mod that will allow you to never have to launch from Kerbin again? Check it out down below and set yourself up a 'permanent' base on Duna or another celestial body such as Laythe.

Modding Spotlight 2

Mission Controller is a mod currently in the 'Alpha' stages of its development and is being developed by nobody44. This mod features the ability to fly missions and create your own using a standard text document editor like Notepad++. I've used this mod myself and it's quite versatile although a bit confusing at first. This one should be on the top of your list if you are looking for a way to experience a pseudo career mode.

Through The Telescope

By: Pleborian

One of the greatest aspects of being part of the KSP community is seeing the multitude of ways that others
get inspired by our favourite <del>explosive</del> space game. Most of the time it's a groundbreaking mod or that
incredible craft design that most of us could never imagine. However within the forums lie even greater
treasures, some weird and some wonderful, all are great.

Take a walk down to the KSP Fan Works Forum and see for yourself the wonders that await you.

I realise this picture is very old but you can't help but admire the abstract take on this piece that was included into the loading screen around the time .15 was released.
