  1. It's sunday and post halloween. Many of us are just struggling to get out of bed
  2. There's quite a lot of Kerbals with -gas in their name. I wonder if that's why the entire race is so green in their faces?
  3. Hi Joe and welcome anonymous kerbalholics, here we're all the same.
  4. You are aware that you don't have to update? And that you can have several installs of various versions and with different mods added? So if 1.0.5 doesn't work, then play 1.0.4 or whatever version you like.
  5. Esp so if you're hailing from a country slightly south of Texas. The rest of this post is not posted since the KSP board isn't the place for what I would like to post.
  6. Just keep in mind that there's a lot of us that will never touch steam.
  7. Please keep changes between the demo version and the 'real' version in mind. I almost dropped KSP after playing the (then) old demo and failed to get even the most basic (youtube) tutorials to work due to changes in SAS.
  8. Hyperthreading doesn't lock half the core out in any way, shape or form. Extensive testing with strict single thread software can show as much as a whopping 1-2% in performance gain. But only for that process, and with just system default processes running disabling HT actually slows the computer down. So if you get that kind of performance boost in KSP then you should look for some other explanation. Edit: Here's just one of the tests that's published over the years. https://semiaccurate.com/2012/04/25/does-disabling-hyper-threading-increase-performance/
  9. I'd like to add some more moons and planets to get even more mission variation (and new difficulties). But I wouldn't change much, if anything at all, with the existing system. One have to remember that the current selection of bodies are adjusted from the 'real ones' to allow for a gradual increase in difficulty.
  10. No. Is it logical? No. Is it sensible? No. But it is Kerbal? Oh YES!.
  11. The problem with any game like KSP is that it's limitations isn't with the game's limits nor abilities. It's with it's ability, or lack of it, to trigger (im)possible scenarios within the mind of the player. After some 18 months of mostly fails but some random success I'm still blessed with several years of more or less stupid things I want to try (and most likely fail) in KSP
  12. Actually, Squad and KSP is nice that way. You don't have to update your game just because there's a new update available. And when you decide to update, you can install the update in a new location and play any version you want. It's a single player game, so you decide the rules
  13. Well since he did ask us if he should save his valiant kerbonaut, he has qualified himself for the "erh, let's save this for later, when we've got a bit more time and cash"-queue
  14. So that's why they pushed for an early 1.0.5. Porkjet has secretly added parts to build SpaceShip One
  15. Thank you, that solved an annoying mystery for me. I solved my invisible/internal wobble by just strutting the payload better, just as if launched without any fairing. But strutting it to the fairings is likely even better.
  16. To go from updates to sequel there has to be some serious new stuff. Look at the Civilization series for instance. New engine, new game play, new graphics, etc and lots of other new stuff. There might come a day when the current game, regardless of updates, simply can't be patched to allow the new content that the studio wants. But that doesn't mean that the first game dies, nor that everyone just rushes ahead and picks up the new one.
  17. Splitting a combined content and engine update into two is probably a good way to use the QA resources. This way QA can spend some time focussing on the new content (and bug fixes) while the coders continue with the engine update. And it gives us a chance to pick 1.0.5 apart while 1.1 is still is in development and QA.
  18. We've learned well from the plumbers
  19. Since there appear to be very limited duplication of work I think releasing what is ready and give the U5 update more time is a very good decision. Proper job Squad.
  20. It's even funnier when you remember that Squad is an interactive marketing company (with a game studio tucked on). If anyone knows the potentially toxic environment of PR and Marketing, it's them
  21. I like them because they give yet another type of brick in my box of toys. Like building a fuel station on an asteroid. Not because I need one, but because I can do it.
  22. Or the quote the elders: For every complex problem, there's a solution that is elegant, clear, simple and wrong.
