1. I got a rather clean audio file from that pyramid on Duna. I posted about it on IRC earlier today but if anybody here feels like giving a try at decoding it here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0duj3q4xgsta4tw/duna%20sstv.mp3
2. This is my first Eve landing. I hope Jeb is happy with his new home because his small ship is nowhere near able to get away from Eve's pull. And the rocket used to get there It wasn't exactly my first landing there, I actually sent another rocket before but I wasn't aware of the extreme atmosphere on Eve so the chute ripped apart while the ship was still very high. I was expecting the ship to explode on impact so I tried to "EVA-drop" the kerbal a moment before the ship hit the ground to try and save the kerbal but he actually died while the ship survived (1 leg out of 3 and the engine exploded). If Jeb feels like walking to the other side of Eve he'll find some scrap and fuel he can use
3. After wasting some time trying to build a truly simple plane from stock parts I came up with this very simple design that can be helpful for beginners and fun for regular players as well. She's fat and slow but if you treat her right she'll give you some fun See the plane in action. The landing wasn't as smooth as planned but still not too bad:
4. I (unfortunately?) didn't try the original The_Duck's plugin but nice work with this one. I'm wasting a bit too much time on the game since I installed it. I could finally build my multi-rovers launcher. Jeb having a look at the tanks on a rover that landed near his munbase: Injecting GEOIP-3, a satellite equipped with Inter-Planetary-class dishes, into geosynchronous orbit:
5. Sorry folks. I didn\'t touch the file whatsoever, it just seems mediafire now dislikes its own 'share with filename' link Here\'s the link: http://www./?41etqcdmqcgzthv Which is basically the same link as before, without the filename part Should work good now. Thanks!
6. I can see a resemblance with my space plane I should make a bigger version that can launch a rocket
7. Nice job. Bringing and leaving an operable lander on the crash site gives extra credits. The kerbanaut commander was definitely successfully rescued. You can of course also wear our medal of courage if you feel like it Thanks for playing. The 'drop-off' gave me ideas for other challenges. Again, well done!
9. Using my custom seaplane: It\'s built for this kind of job. I handled that ejecting pod quite badly though :-\
10. For successful extraction of our test pilot, NorthWood corporation is proud to offer you the medal of courage and valor, that you are free to wear or not (in a signature or something else), at your fitting: To insert on the forums: NorthWood is forever grateful so enclosed with the medal, you will find payment information for a transfer of 300,000 kerbal space credits. We hope this will help you with your future projects. Seriously, nice job. I thought that 24h might be too long of a limit, but I didn\'t expect it to be THAT too long. An efficient ship is nothing without a good pilot. Well done.
11. T + 15:36:39 - First Incident report. After collision with the munar surface, damage to the fuel reservoir rendered the ship\'s propulsion system unusable, leaving our best commander stranded on the dark side of the mun. Using both the space plane and its survival pod\'s oxygen reservoirs, our commander should be able to survive for 24h (T + 24:00:00). Can you save him? This is a rescue mission. To complete this challenge you have to: [li]Land the closest to the crash site as possible (like...really close!)[/li] [li]Land before T +24:00:00[/li] [li]Land a working ship (meaning that remaining fuel is not important, but it must be able to move after landing)[/li] [li]NOT use 'instant orbiting' parts (post screenshot of the ship on the launchpad)[/li] To help you in your task, here is a map indicating the crash site: It is fairly hard to pinpoint a precise location on a map and land there so there is no real parts restrictions besides the 'instant-anything' parts. Just show us pictures of that rescue ship. Good luck.
12. Come on, in its current state the game is just a big sandbox for your hypothetical scenarios. Not every scenarios have to start from the launchpad. Instant orbit parts (that I didn\'t try to be honest) just let you bypass that lack of scenario scripting features. Let\'s not fall into weird nostalgia about 'basics' of an incomplete demo-state game but let\'s remember that 'part hacking' can instead get devs to bring new features to the game.
13. Semi-ejection. The whole cockpit actually ejects from the plane, carrying RCS thrusters for EVA, Reentry and landing. The kerbal stays in his seat but you can pop the 'semi-transparent' dome as a last rocket stage.
14. Thanks, I spent quite some time trying to balance it correctly. Weight shifts as fuel burns so it\'s never 100% stable but adjusting the throttle helps. I\'m flying it with a PS2 controller but I think it\'s not working too bad with the keyboard. Somehow a 'beginner' plane. It\'s a 'slow' flyer, almost a powered glider so it doesn\'t need much power to glide for a long time. For landing, I like to just toggle on the SAS modules in the correct flare position and let it glide down. I wish there were more visual aids to find the airstrip and/or an ILS of some sort to help with glide slope, etc.
15. Oops, sorry, I got a mediafire f*up so now the link in the previous post is dead (I\'ll update it after posting this). Here is the correct url: northwood_surge_plane_I.zip Sorry again.
