  2. Heya peeps, you may have noted that the game has a set of passive milestones that give rewards automatically as they are achieved regardless of what contracts etc etc are selected. Id like to ask if there is any part of the game user interface that keeps track of what has or has not already been achieved in game?

The parachute bug, exact same thing happened to me and killed Jebediah, I have also noticed myself strongly taking safety features into account and set up abort sequences with each new launch vehicle. When failures happen Im forced to think in advance about how to save the pilot from fiery death rather than before... BOOM!.. ok revert game. Ive also found that no reverts/saves give disasters and success a greater feeling of impact and have worked to give my games a feeling of history. time for me to get back... Ive just unlocked the stayputnik and if this next flight doesnt achive free return trajectory from the mun Im going to be poor for quite some time
  4. ***5. rules do not apply until in atmosphere*** keke, outside the box peeps. OP doesn't say anything about take off weight, space station refueling etc etc you just have to enter duna's atmo at the speed and fuel levels specified.

  6. Oh I used googledrive for my craft file, can store anything, you would just have to learn how to share a folder via hyperlink.
  7. the very unprofessional way I always test If I have the delta-v because up to now Ive only played vanilla is ah, Il always send an unmanned probe or two out to my target first before attempting manned missions. even though manned missions are heavier its pretty easy to "eyeball" the weight after a while.

  9. Oh sry, I hope this does the trick, Im just lucky its easy to fly these runs are definitely helping me nail the whole gravity turn/terminal velocity thing, is good practice. Im thinking a run at the moon next will make things more interesting
  10. Ive never seen an asteriod come into a stable orbit around kerbin on its own, Youl have too get out there
  11. lol 1 of the first ambitious things I did on the new version was an asteroid recapture, but ive got no pics (well 1 pic, I was pressing the wrong button for screen caps ), il have to get back on the horse to get on that leaderboard.

This is mine, all stock weighing in at 826 kg I reckon I probably could have drained some fuel out if I were a better pilot though. .craft It is pretty easy to get into orbit, just have to be mindful of terminal velocity's, This all being said the types of craft that can be built lightly to get to a kerbin orbit are limited, may be worth extending the challenge to other SOI's
  13. Having landed an unmanned probe on Duna's (Mars) moon Ike I used the science gained to unlock some more airplane parts. I got inspired to design and fly a plane to the north pole of Kerbin, Ive always found planes quite hard to design and it is far different to designing rockets, with rockets atmosphere does not have to be taken into account very much, you take a short path through the atmosphere on launch but most of your flying will be in the vacuum of space. Planes however fly non stop through the atmosphere and because I decided to use jet engines it was all the more difficult because jets need oxygen to function. At low elevations the atmosphere is thick, the air intakes function at greater capacity, the wings and control surfaces are very effective but the atmospheric drag on your craft is greater. flying upward means you have a thinner atmosphere to fly through meaning you can go faster, but there is less oxygen for the air intakes and I found that above 25000m altitude your control surfaces and wings begin to lose effectiveness. Its a balancing act of piloting and design to fly efficiently and planes must be designed to function in this wide gradient of environments and the functionally of planes varies wildly with each design having an altitude and flying style that works best for it. The plane I made was designed for between roughly 13 and 20 kilometers altitude and flew best slowly oscillating between 15 and 18 picking up speed and then dipping down a little to get more oxygen. Due to the high altitude design takeoffs and landings took a great deal of flying precision to maintain control. With crashes, redesigns, ado and all kinds of troubles the mission was a success! And I do feel somewhat confident in my design skills, perhaps a duel type engine system to reach sub-orbit and circumnavigate Kerbin can be the next step in testing my aerodynamic prowess
  14. SQUAD probably were not sure what difficulty curve they should use for kerbal rescue missions. I mean the send data missions seem to expand as you complete the main "explore" line of quests and if im remembering correctly the "test part" contracts don't leave Kerbins SOI but start on kerbin and expand outwards to the mun... (I think at least as far as my game is concerned) so they would likely be deciding at what at would a variable orbit be reasonable contract or around the mun or other planet. how much more prestige should be offered for surface rescues the prestige of the contracts would have to be sorted out and balanced. My own rescue contracts seem to be all 2 stars but offer very little in the way of loot because its the same type of contract as the beginning of the game so id say that is a balance they will have to work out before expanding rescue missions

  18. hmm, Have you been exclusively been trying to intercept it at its Kerbin periapsis (the point where its closest to Kerbin)? Could be easier to intercept it at approach or closer to its escape point, as a tiny A or B class it will be easy to slow down and capture so long as you can intercept and attach.
