  1. When you PC dies on you and you're more concerned with recovering your KSP data than with the expense and hassle of getting anew computer! This happened to me last night.
  2. Last night I did go to space. After many days of trial and error I was able to launch 5 modules of a space station at once into a reasonable orbit (with the idea of boosting it to 200k+ orbit later) Right as I was getting read to detach the upper stage from the station with (hopefully) enough Delta V left to de-orbit itself my PC crashed hard and will not reboot! I will not be going back to space any time soon. Hopefully I can recover my KSP stuff from the HD. I was more upset about the possibility of losing my KSP launchers and mission than I was at the hassle and expense of replacing my PC...
  3. I just ran into a similar problem as the OP after rocket had a major failure on the launch pad, and the game crashed as I tried to get some screen shots. In the persistent file the launchpad was marked as intact but the water tower was not, setting that back to true was enough to repair everything.
  4. After my first (successful) Mun landing I ended up in a highly elliptical orbit around Kerbin with no fuel. Luckily the peripapsis was down around 59km so after a couple of dozen orbits the capsule did de-orbit. This was with the mk2 Mun Lander (the less said about the mk 1 the better) the mk3 had the same fuel load as the mk2 but was lighter mostly due to less mono propellant on board. It didn't occur to me use the rcs on the mk 2 lander to speed up the areo braking until it was too late. The mk3 can make it home with some fuel to spare.
  5. Hi all, I've been playing KSP for about a month now (in Sandbox mode) and found this forum to be invaluable, so thanks to all who contribute to the community. Newbies like me are faced with a very steep learning curve so a lot of help is needed! So far I have landed on the Mun 7 times (the last 4 were successful, the crews survived the first three attempts but weren't going to be going home in the lander they arrived in so those flights were reverted). I have sent a probe to Eve and several to Duna. I am currently working on a Duna lander (the first attempt did reach the surface but "landed" doing something above 300 m/s due to having run out of fuel early in the descent). Eventually I want to land Kerbals on Duna, and, if they are lucky, return them to Kerbin.
