  1. It's a relief to know you're ok K, sorry to see you won't be able to work on this mod for a while, but real life is far more important so best of luck there and thank you for any info you can provide us. seaces 1.7 had a complete set of parts but 1.8v04 is probably the most refined in functionality as well as having a larger selection of wing surfaces. How well that will work with the changes made in 1.1 is anyone's guess.
  2. Well this mod is under a creative commons license, so as Vrana said, maybe someone will pick it up, or at least be inspired to add these kinds of wide body components to their own mod.
  3. Well going from frequent contact to no contact at all since mid January isn't a good sign. He could just have been waiting until 1.1 is released, but a working version of that has been released and still no word so........
  4. Don't hold your breath making suggestions or looking for the full release. We've heard nothing from K. Yeon since mid January, so it is unknown if he is ok or is simply too busy to continue with this. Considering both the elapsed time and the complete lack of contact, this could possibly be an abandoned mod. I guess we can only hope that K. Yeon will return to it, or that someone else will pick it up and complete it.
  5. Hey I hate to be that guy, but this thread is supposed to be about the OPT mod.
  6. The reason he went back to using wings with separate control surfaces is because the ones with integrated surfaces never got their lift ratings right and I don't think there was a way in the game to separate the ratings for wings and controls without making them separate parts. What release date are you talking about, he released the 1.8 v4.01 on 8/01/2016, ie Jan 8 although he actually released it Jan7, don't confuse 8/01/2016 to mean the next will be in August, although right now who can say? We can only hope everything is OK with K.Yeon but if this does eventually become an abandoned mod, it is under the creative commons license, so there is nothing stopping someone else from making parts that will fit it.
  7. Hey it's not up to me, I've no involvement with development of this mod, I'd much prefer if K.Yeon was using GitHub. I don't know why he's using Mediafire, I'm just saying the link isn't hidden, and seriously, how hard is it to copy and paste a link? We haven't heard from the guy since January so I hope everything is Ok.
  8. The link isn't hidden, it's right there in the first post on the first page, you simply can't click on it because of a forum block, you just have to copy and paste it into your address bar.
  9. The new J parts are slightly larger and use a new texture style so there would be a mismatch trying to use a part from a previous version, and this is just a test version, things like the docking adapter aren't in it yet.
  10. What happened is a good question, I hope everything is OK with K.Yeon and that he is just busy with life, meanwhile you could try mounting a conventional docking adapter on a mount inside of the cargo bay, like they did with real shuttles, see if that works.
  11. 1.8 is just a test release, it's not really complete, so a lot of the parts that were in earlier versions aren't in it, but you should just be using version 4.01 to avoid any problems. I don't think anyone knows what is happening with the development of this mod right now.
  12. I'm using Firefox with NoScript and Adblock Plus, so I've never seen the problem, though I suspect I would be stepping into a minefield following a Mediafire link.
  13. It does sound like a driver issue. You can also try using rbray89's Active Texture Management Mod to convert the textures to DDS.
  14. This model does look very different from your previous version. I think there is some smoothing that needs to be done, the canopy sides are at right angles now rather than sloped as before, which looks odd, how that would work aerodynamically I'm not sure. I can't honestly say I think it looks as good as the previous one. I think it needs a little love.
  15. The original Valkyrie style K cockpit, not the J variant, was the reason for my getting interested in this mod, so yes I am disappointed that the design seems to have been abandoned. Obviously K.Yeon can do whatever he pleases with his mod and while I really do appreciate his efforts, I can only hope he finally settles on a style he is happy with.
  16. 1.8v4.01 is a test version, it probably isn't complete, at least I hope that's the case.
  17. They all work for me, make sure you have OPT 1.8v4(now1.8v4.01) installed correctly, also make sure you are using BahamutoD's Adjustable Landing Gear mod which all of the craft files are using.
  18. I might be off on this but I think they are looking for the augmentation of flight control from a vectored exhaust, not just the visual effect by itself. If it is problematic to implement within the constraints of the game engine than its not something we really need right now and certainly not if it's going to delay the release of these engines. So far everything in this mod is looking really good. I do see that the new K cockpit IVA is going to need a few tweaks, the interior windows etc don't match the exterior anymore, but I imagine this is coming with the updated IVAs. Something I have also noticed, the Mk2 Ram air intake does not align itself perfectly to a Mk2 tank if that tank is at a slight angle, the intake goes on slightly off then needs to be rotated to align it, same with the ramjet engine, this isn't new to this version, it's been like this for a while, not a major problem just a minor nuisance. Parts are going together much better now, there don't appear to be any of the problems that were occurring before when using the stock editing tools.
  19. Since it is only the exhaust effect that would be varied on the Linear Aerospike is it possible to gimbal the effect axis. ie. Mount the effect on a hidden gimbaled hardpoint rather than a fixed one? Oh wait that would be for just the effect wouldn't it, does the engine output have a model hardpoint? could that be placed on the same kind of gimbal?
  20. They may not have them built in but I think he plans to design in the slots for the controls surfaces to fit seamlessly and not look like they are just "tacked on", at least that's how it appears from the images he's posted. I too would request either a built in or at least streamlined low profile docking port.
  21. Traditional aircraft design have ailerons near the outer wing tips for roll control, elevators are aft on the tailplane, or canards are forward, for pitch control and some if any roll control. If the wing's control surfaces are near the center of mass they won't have much pitch authority, on conventional aircraft those spaces are dedicated to things like flaps. Think of a lever, the further from the point of rotation, in this case being the center of mass, the less energy is required to achieve motion. In this game the controls could even pitch inverted depending on the control surface placement, which could have undesirable consequences, so usually you don't want pitch on the wings unless those control surfaces are well aft of the center of mass, like on a delta wing craft or jet fighter where you would have elevator and aileron functions combined.
  22. I have to admit, the new K cockpit is kind of growing on me. I like that it does not have a thin bladed front edge, that never made sense to me seeing it's never something used in actual spacecraft designs. I still really like the old Valkyrie cockpit (not the J cockpit option), maybe this style of hull but with a Valkyrie type canopy in the center? So far I haven't encountered any problems with 1.8v2, I did however copy over the wings and engines from 1.8v1 because, honestly, I prefer them over the stock ones, they do have that futuristic look that I just can't seem to pull off as well with the stock parts.
  23. I prefer the flat K fuselage but I do hope that the original Valkyrie style cockpit and adapter (perhaps combined into a single component) will be part of this new configuration.
