  4. I can understand those not wanting a dependency, it can be a hassle, especially if it's for something you don't use. If toolbar support can be added easily as an option, then by all means, I'm for it.
  5. Since I'm already using the toolbar, making it mandatory doesn't concern me, so, vote yes! lol

  9. Because not all of my ships need a map? Adding another mod like module manager is just another mod that has to kept track of, updated, etc. Also, having the separate scan traq in the mod keeps the mod self contained, not something that depends on another mod or a user-edited config file. If it's a huge hassle to keep it updated, and would delay or postpone the release of the full mod, then by all means, leave that part out, to either never return or come back when it's ready, but that seems a little extreme, but then I don't know what goes into developing these mods (well, I do a little) so I can't say what's worth the effort to someone else.
  10. After lurking a while, quietly following the new developments (thanks!) in this great mod, I thought I'd just chime in with a 2¢ opinion on this. I'd rather have the separate module as well, I don't need the map plugin on every ship, so a vote to keep the map traq the way it is, if anyone wants it on every ship, they can use module manager or edit the config files as they wish, those of us who don't can add the part to the ships they do want to have it and leave the rest alone.
  11. Good information here, thanks everyone. Nice to know untracked asteroids just vanish in a puff if you're not looking at them. I'm just going to untrack all the ones that are orbiting the sun, no sense to track them otherwise, and as noted, if I want to use one for something, my own tests have shown tracking a few for 10 minutes or so will get you one in the size & orbit you want. I do like the idea of asteroids spawning elsewhere in the system, too, that would make it more interesting.
  12. I started a similar discussion here, seems you have a few tracked as well. If you just sit there and track asteroids, you'll easily get a thousand or more. My question is, if you don't track them, and one is on an intercept with Kerbin, will it crash, or just disappear since you're not tracking it? I'd like to know if anyone has experienced an impact on Kerbin from an unknown asteroid, and actually saw it.
  13. OK, I figured there'd be people with a thousand or more. Really, if you right click the unknown object button, it will only show unknowns, then click each one and track it. Watch it for half an hour in another window while doing other things or watching youtube and you'll see a few show up every few minutes. But, mostly, I have them turned off in tracking view, and the few that are close the Kerbin or on intercept show up automatically when you are at the right zoom level. Tracked a few more last night, probably up to 120 or so at this point. The next question is, if you aren't tracking it, and it's on an intercept course, does it still crash into Kerbin? Kind of like the tree falling in the forest riddle. I'd like to know if anyone was just minding their own business in the game, wandering around the surface and has seen one crash land without having tracked it or even known about it. Is the game coded to be that specific?

  15. I'm currently tracking 111, nice round number. I didn't try very hard to track all those, just set the tracking station to only show unknowns, then watched videos until some would show up, and started tracking each one. Didn't really take that long either, so I'm guessing other people are probably tracking a lot more. Is there a limit? Any slow downs when the number of tracked asteroids gets up to the thousands?
  16. Started scanning for asteroids in a new career mode, found a D class on an impact trajectory: Ten days until it's apoapsis, then maybe 20 or 30 until impact? I have that long to get far enough in career mode to get the parts needed to redirect it into orbit. The other track is an almost natural capture, when I click on it, the orbit shows a Kerbin escape in a little under a year. But I plan to make it a new moon along with the other one. That is, if I can get the parts needed fast enough.
