  1. The Monster Fuel Loader: A 690 ton rocket with a 13% payload fraction! I recently put up my PLAR system probe into orbit before the transfer window to Jool arrives. However, the transfer stage is one of the new tanks, and it was almost empty from the climb into orbit! Thus, I had to make a rocket to fill it up, and instead this was made. It's got a sub 200 part count and is rated to 88 tons with fuel to spare. In this particular craft, the ARM claw at the front makes fuel transfer easy considering I don't have to strictly dock. File is here: http://www./download/apc8vsenxhhr543/Monster_Fuel_Loader.zip It contains the rocket AND the launcher sub-assembly. Put the Monster Launcher System.craft file in the sub-assemblies folder, and the other file in the VAB folder. Ascent Profile: 1. Take off normally. Throttle should be 2 notches above halfway. 2. When the boosters are about to flame out, throttle down to halfway and start turning (You should be near or at 9km) 3. Once past 10km, tilt to 85 degrees and go full throttle. 4. Wait until your TWR is high enough to tilt over to 45 degrees. 5. Once the 2nd stage is lit, keep an eye on the map so that you don't go too high too soon. 6. At 35 km, you should be going fast enough and with a high enough TWR to tilt over to the horizion. 7. Achieve orbit. You should have about 700m/s of delta-v left. Action Groups: 1 - Open the radio dishes. If you like this rocket, perhaps you will like my other craft?
  2. How much Delta-V does this thing have once it is in orbit?
  3. I forgot to talk about the action groups, so I added them. Also, can I please get some feedback on the design? I'd like to know what people think of my crafts.
  4. Hello, and welcome to the PLAR (Probe Land And Return) line of probes. However, these are not you average 'fire and forget' probes; they have been specially designed to get anywhere in the system...and return from almost all of them. This means the probes are sort of...big. With a total delta-v of 15,295m/s, and with 9776m/s of delta-v in the lander/return stage, it is really made to suit the above sentence. Unlike other probes, the nuke stage of this rocket doubles as the landing stage, which means it has a high TWR ratio. The return stage gets you home when you want to return. Also fitted are 6 detachable parachutes (3 drouge and 3 normal) for landing on atmospheric bodies. This probe was designed because I didn't want to lose any kerbals and I wanted to create the craft with a good delta-v to TWR ratio. Action Groups are: 1 - Raise/Lower Legs, Toggle Lights. 2 - Decouple parachutes, either after they are used or if the probe is being used for only non-atmospheric bodies. Here is the first, normal one: LINK TO PLAR SYSTEM DOWNLOAD Here is one designed to go to Jool and visit all the moons without running out of fuel - it is designed so that the launcher stage refuels in orbit and does the transfer burn itself. LINK TO JOOL EDITION PLAR SYSTEM DOWNLOAD And here is the tanker used to refuel the launcher (although it can be used as a normal tanker.) Remember to turn off the fuel cross-feed between the docking ports before launch! LINK TO PLAR LAUNCHER REFUELLER DOWNLOAD For more crafts by me, go here Feedback would be appreciated. Seriously, I think I'm doing it wrong.
  5. Hey Rareden; I hope you don't mind me asking, but how is this craft coming along? Also, the pack itself looks amazing.
  6. This ship here got me to Minmus and back! It was pretty close, though.
  7. What is it with people assuming the worse? What will happen is what happened with other large population increases here - some people will stay, and others will leave. Any "immaturity" in the community will balance itself out with the players not being able to handle the game leaving. That's it. The game won't 'go like minecraft', because the devs here have a set goal in mind that they aren't going to change. Notch bowed to community pressure, which caused the game to deviate massively from it's original idea of a dwarf-fortress feel.
  8. I'm going to hold off voting until the last three winners are picked. I'm not sure where to look in so many choices. Also, it looks like my plane won't make it. There are clearly better choices than mine
  9. Ok, based on your feedback, I've: -Changed the deluxe winglets to av-r8 winglets and moved them forward, giving the plane extra yaw, extra pitch, extra roll and reduced chance of tail strike. This also pushes the COL closer to the COM. -moved the back gear back and the front gear back I have not changed the radial intakes nor changed the angle of the engine nacelles because they are an integral part of the design and safety aspects. Otherwise, I have: -moved the position of the radial intakes to be better symmetrically -added a strut to each engine to make sure they don't fall off unless the plane breaks apart; this pushes the part count two up to 38. 10. Has anyone tested my plane yet? If so, what can I improve on?
  11. I have updated the Super Spear so that the ladder is easier to get onto from the cockpit. The ladder is also know mapped to actiongroup 1. Here is the new link: http://www./download/u55a1updjuvnc52/Super_Spear.zip The imgur album and original post's link have been changed as well.
  12. Welcome to the Super Spear! It has a engine/intake ratio of 2/4(the radial intakes are about half of one intake.) It weighs 8.06 tons, and is made up of 36 parts. It has the looks, the speed, and the altitude! The real question is whether you guys like it. Have a look... OLD PLANE DESIGN: NEW PLANE DESIGN: Here's another link to it, if you can't see the imgur album. http://www./download/dl9gntw4e495yce/Super_Spear.zip
  13. Good news for those concerned! The PLAR system is in orbit and is fully fuelled, meaning it is ready for a trip to the Jool system! Also, testing for the Laythe UAV is close to an end. Here is an imgur album of the launch and refueling of the PLAR, as well as a show of a test run of the Laythe UAV. (It will have text soon)
