Did you belong to any guilds?  We were mostly in Birds of Prey.

Description

"Slowly emerging from a secluded Krakonian Skunkworks hangar, the spooling lift fans of an FA-38 whine at an ever increasing pitch. The MAD Mind Collective 5th gen fighter effortly begins to levitate with a TWR double its weight.  Elite Krakonian pilots fortunate enough to qualify, do not achieve vertical flight in the Nemesis... They dominate it.  HAIL KRAKEN!!"

Design Notes

Flight testing went very well, the final version was achieved in the Mk4 iteration after deciding that I could trade off some flight stability for an increased fuel load.  I figure a 5th gen fighter is a pretty unstable airframe anyway, and will need to rely on the pilot assist fly-by-wire system to constantly keep it stable.  Vertical flight is very controlled with plenty of vertical thrust to keep it from pancaking on landing.  This was the first VTOL that was stable enough to land on both helo-pads at the KSC.    

Need to come up with a little VTOL mission now for the video flight demo.  ...maybe plant a flag on a mountain top?  Where's a good skull-island-dormant-volcano-evil-lair when you need one?

Cool!  ...it looks good.  I might start tinkering with a few mods.  Possibly: Airplane Parts, Spaceplane, and maybe something like Infernal Robotics for some hydraulic lift stuff.

Cool...  I think you will find there are a lot more people here who might already have your mods installed that can help with your plane design.  In particular, I would recommend taking a look at the "Works in Progress" thread.  This would be the perfect place for you to post a link to your KerbalX VTOL craft and ask people to help with trying to get it stabilized.

I'm going to post a pic of a craft that I'm currently working on in the thread so you should be able to find it easily.  Unfortunately, I may not be able to assist too quickly with your craft as there are a lot of mods involved and I may not be able to get them all installed.

OK, post a note or two in the personal intro/hello section and you should be good to go...  It's a little late so probably won't have a chance to install all those mods tonight.  Might have to try tomorrow evening.

Hah!  yeah...  I've used the name for years.  It made more sense when I used it on certain spreadsheet/finance forums.

Thanks, I'll have to checkout that mod in the next day or two... we have plans this evening, so might have to wait til the weekend.  In the meantime, I did publish the Bobcat at KerbalX!  I think it's a pretty good little Navy jet...  I've gotta do something to fix my Saitek controller lag issues though, flying it with the keyboard I don't think is as much fun.  Would love if you could take it for a spin and let me know your thoughts?

One minor question... How do you get it to the water?  I was thinking hyper-edit but it falls apart on the runway.  You must use something to teleport it there instead of runway?
