So in case anyone else is struggling with Rescale here is a semi-solution that worked for me just now. Tracking station body info confirmed all planets were scaled up after I did this: I gave Rescale another shot and manually installed everything. Windows had issues with the file "Rescale.2.5x.zip" because of the multiple dots, which I had to change. Other than that, I went with KSP 1.8.1 and Kopernicus 1.8.1-38, and all the other downloads listed here:

I was hoping I could use someone else's hard work but what you suggested may be better than installing an old version in the end, and it would be nice not to depend on others after every patch. I will dig into KittopiaTech and see if I can triumph over my incompetence. Picking your brain a little further, could you confirm that atmosphere altitude and g would remain constant when increasing radii this way? Cheers!

Hello, After a hiatus I wanted to try reverting back from kerbalism and all the good mods for a scaled-up system with vanilla parts for a simple career but with added difficulty. I have played scaled-up with RSS-RP in the past but this time I was unable to scale up the system successfully. With Rescale I either crashed on loading KSC or the planets were not scaled. I own both DLCs. I tried multiple versions (1.08, 1.09, 1.10, 1.11) with Rescale 2.5x installed through ckan (and all dependancies) without success, and I also tried a bunch of combinations by manually installing the mods (kopernicus, module manager, rescale). Now I might be doing something wrong, so if someone could confirm that x mod(s) on x version is sure to work I'll know to focus my efforts on this combination until it works. TLDR questions: as of today what is a mod(s) + KSP version combination that is known to work for scaling up planets without changing parts? Is there an alternative to Rescale mods? Hope this reaches someone, and thanks. Alex
