  1. well theres this woman who keeps complaining about rocket parts strewn all over the garden, and some smaller ones, one of whom is some sort of idiot because all she can do is say a few words and poo her pants every 5 hours. im glad to be out of it this christmas i really am.
  2. its been a white knuckle ride these past few days, i felt sure it was gonna happen before xmas, but the amount of cool stuff they have put in for the beta than ever version really couldn't have done a better job of denying my wife and kids of my presence (but not my presents)....gasp god thats a long sentence. anybody else's fams going to be ksp widows and orphans this yuletide?
  3. like i say it's a companion to the game but you can work without it, the very fact that virtually no computer guidance is bundled with the early versions we are playing means the game as is has no little to no need of it. still it's a timesaver and like other mods i hope it will get into the final game proper.
  4. or indeed realise that the roof is in fact in the basement and you are missing an arm...and you have lost the nails.
  5. I started playing ksp on .13 and did everything manually this was before nodes and such so i had to figure out how to reach orbit, circularize, land and get home all manually. however now with so much so get to such massive distances and ever more taxing and exhaustive manuevers to learn mechjeb really takes the strain off but i still switch to manual for fine tuning orbit landings transfers etc. but when it comes to reaching orbit mechjeb really makes it more fun as i can turn it off if i want but reaching orbit is a pain after the 1000th time, so id say if you wanna do manual you will see more of the game but for those of us who have been playing a while mechjeb makes a lot of sense.
  6. the moment (in 0.13) when I realised that I could fix my orbit apoapsis/periapsis by burning at those 2 little markers on the nav ball, then all I had to do was burn straight up and I'd land. yes quite a lot aha of moments have followed since.
  7. thanks for everything you've done, some mods go the extra mile, and stand out from the rest.
  8. exactly you dont just put in an number and create a galaxy, with all the orbits and gravities, what spock called the celestial ballet (well he did in the simpsons)
  9. a/ true b/ yes but even that would be a gargantuan task c/ thanks
  10. spore again eh? spore is not the same kind of game as this by any stretch of the imagination, and was also rubbish.
  11. Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars. It\'s a hundred thousand light years side to side. It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick, But out by us, it\'s just three thousand light years wide. We\'re thirty thousand light years from galactic central point. We go \'round every two hundred million years, And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions In this amazing and expanding universe. not possible with todays pc\'s end of.
  12. yes its in dev so isnt finished so therefore cant be talked of as we all know games that looked great but were never completed or even had a playable demo, until i see it in a game as described here i say it isnt feasible., not at galaxy size at any rate. i am hoping that one day it will happen as i it just needs time, but it isnt happening yet and not for a long while.
  13. i think people are forgetting the sheer size of just one galaxy, and also the need to test every planet sun and moon, texture and place in space would take millions of years, however i think as someone has said a brief loading screen of some kind would enable much larger areas. with regard to any space game like elite, do you really think that is the same as creating fully textured 3d approachable bodies in space that can then be landed on? with a physics engine directing rocket thrust and gravity effects? i can write down what id like to see in a game, but to actually bring that into being takes a long time, i dont think a lot of people who post on here understand what it takes to create a game.
